Rob Feinstein, recieving an award for ROH before leaving ROH
Rob Feinstein has accomplished a lot in the wrestling business. He is self-made, and has made a lot of money with his successful RF Video company. After working for ECW, and wanting to fill the need of good wrestling, Rob Feinstein founded Ring of Honor. ROH went on to become the best independent promotion in North America. Then Feinsteingate happened. Earlier this year, Perverted Justice, in conjunction with NBC 10, put up a transcript on their website, which accused Rob Feinstein of being a pedophile. Everyone else knows the rest- Rob was removed from ROH. RF Video/ROH would later split up. ROH would go on and be owned by Cary Silken, while RF Video is still owned by Rob Feinstein. ROH distanced themselves from their former owner. Rob eventually left ROH with hopes of returning one day. As of this interview, there is zero chance of Rob returning to ROH with the current staff there. Rob Feinstein kept quiet and was not heard from publicly for some time. RF Video would go on a sabbatical. Seemingly, Rob Feinstein was gone from wrestling.
Recently Rob Feinstein has been more vocal. He has updated his live journal several times since the incident. Rob also called other wrestling promoters to explain his side of the story. Rob also called wrestlers and acquaintances and let them know his side. Now, Rob is willing to tell everyone his story. Some may ask what took so long for Rob to speak, and the answer is simple. Legal issues. Talking during the heat of the incident could’ve caused serious litigation against Rob. He was, as he told the DOI, forced to stay quiet.
Some have questioned the DOI on the way they have covered the Rob Feinstein situation. On this site I have bashed Rob, praised Rob and reported news on Rob. In a mission to give two sides to every story, the DOI has taken a step back from attacking Rob, since the incident went down, in an effort to maintain journalistic integrity. The DOI fully supports ROH Wrestling as well as RF Video. We will cover any story, whether good or bad on either party. Personally speaking, I enjoy the ROH product whether or not Rob is part of it. I also enjoy RF Video Shoot Interviews, whether or not if ROH management are conducting the interview. The DOI’s stance is to give everyone a forum as everyone has a right to say what they want. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, just as how everyone is entitled to let the public know their side on certain issues.
Whether I, or the DOI as a whole, believe Rob’s side of the story is not an issue. Whether you, the reader, believe Rob IS an issue, and that is why Rob decided to give the DOI this interview. Rob wants everyone to know his side of the story.
Going into this interview, I was told by Rob and his lawyer, that certain questions weren’t allowed to be asked, due to legal issues. Answering certain questions would set litigation against Rob. Rob is not allowed to comment on Ring of Honor or any of their employees, due to a gag order that he signed. Rob also didn’t want to single anyone out, and cause any potential lawsuits by naming anyone he was linked with, sexually, in this interview. Those were the only two subjects that were not allowed to be commented on, so those questions did have to be omitted. Everything else that people would want to know was asked.
In this interview, Rob gives his side of the story, talks about Perverted-Justice, talks about his new promotion and much more. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did. All feedback can be sent to BULLSMC@aol.com
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Rob a lot has transpired in your life since late February. How have you been in these past 6 months?
Rob Feinstein: First before we start this interview, I just want to let you know that you are the only website that I will be doing any interviews with about this subject. After this interview is done I will not be talking about this again. I am moving on and putting all of this in my past. The reason I am doing this interview with you is because I find that the DOI website has been really good to myself over the last few months. I respect the fact that not only do you report the bad news but you also report the good news and your not scared of what your readers have to say. I also want the fans that are reading this to know that I never had any kind of business relations with this website. I am doing this website because I respect them.
To answer your first question my life was turned upside down over the last six months. I learned alot about life in the past six months. There were so many lessons that came out of this for myself as a person. I guess to answer your question about how I am doing, the best thing I can say is that I am not the same person that I was 6 months ago. I don’t trust anyone anymore at all. I am wiser and see people for who they really are. I learned alot and have also become more aggressive when it comes to my business, which is great. This incident lit a fire under me. Everything happens for a reason.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Before we get into the serious questions, is there anything you want to say to the fans reading this?
Rob Feinstein: I want the fans to know I am the one guy who never lied to the fans . I always respected them. You can love me or hate me, but the truth is I started, along with Doug, a new company that has changed wrestling and brought them some of the most exciting action that they have seen since ECW. I did this with my own money and hard work over the last decade in this business not only for me, but for each and every fan out there who loves wrestling. I was the one guy who wanted to give something back to the fans along with Doug. I am also one of the biggest fans as well. I have gotten so many cool E mails from people telling me to keep my head up and how everyone still supports us. The fans have been great to me so far. There are a few haters out there, but they just used this incident as an excuse to bury me. I can't please everyone. Most of the fans realize that Doug and myself brought them this new wrestling product and they respect me for that, which is a great feeling. I have a respect for the fans as well. When I put on live shows I did not look at it like I was doing this all for me. I was doing it for them, because I am one of them. The one thing I want to say to the fans is, keep an open mind and do not believe everything you hear out there.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on the Perverted Justice website?
Rob Feinstein: There is nothing professional about them. Check out this site to learn more about them: http://www.Corrupted-Justice.com This site will tell you everything that Perverted Justice does not want you to know.
Perverted Justice:
(From the Corrupted Justice website)
They promote a lynch mob. In the old days it was “everyone bring a club, a gun”. Today it’s “find an address, get a phone number, contact his place of work, determine car make and model, contact his relatives and neighbors…” Get him fired, ostracized, ruin his marriage, his income potential, turn his friends against him.
Sound like someone we know?
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Do you feel that you were a victim of a set-up operation designed to scar your life?
Rob Feinstein: My life has been scared. It does not feel like this happened 6 months ago. It feels like this was yesterday to me because I deal with the mental aspect of it on a daily basis. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think about it. This is what happened to me:
I was in an adult chat room on AOL. I was not in any kids chat room. I was never looking for kids. I got contacted by a person in the adult chat room who had an AOL profile. In that profile they said they went to college. It had 3 pictures of that person in the profile link. They were normal pictures of a college looking person, not of a child. A major wrestling journalist of another website saw the pictures as well. Also, Perverted Justice does not use real pictures of people that you are talking to. They are of older people. There were phone conversations with that person the next day as well. It is very easy to tell if you’re talking to a child or an adult. When I talked on the phone I was talking to an adult. I knew it was an adult. That website likes to focus on all the negative things that you supposedly said. According to the person I spoke with at Corrupted Justice, they also like to add stuff to the chat log that you never said. They also add side bar comments to make you look bad. Anyone can add anything to a chat. It is not that hard. I can talk to people and add into that chat anything I want to make that person look bad. It’s not that hard to do. All you have to do is copy and paste.
In the conversation with Perverted-Justice, I made it clear that I was looking for a friend, and not sex. I even said that to the person before I even went. I had alot in common with this person as far as his views on the lifestyle and stuff he was going through. That person was trying to get me to be something I am not. The chat was filled with lies and everything they said was a huge lie. So many people can see what they are really about. The NBC piece started out like, how to protect your kids from the internet perverts. At least in my case I never was in any kind of chat room for young people. I was in an AOL chat room for people over the age of 18. But of course they never tell you that kind of stuff. The week this was done was also sweeps week. Keep that in mind as well.
Let me say this many people want to know why I went there in the first place. How many of you have met someone off line to be a friend? Have you ever been in a chat room and met someone from it ever? People say if you thought it was a kid why did you even go? It was never a kid and I knew it. Then I hear from people why did you run from the cameras, why not just stay and talk to them? Ok here we go on that one:
I go to a place to meet someone expecting to be meeting a person that I just talked to for a few days. I never lied about who I was. So when you get to the place and after two seconds of being there, they shove a huge camera in your face and call you by the name “Tim”, which was the wrong name. They then ask you why you were there to have sex with two 14 year old girls. You think to yourself “what the hell is going on?’ If you have seen the tape of me on the news, watch how the reporter calls me by the name TIM. He got me confused with other people they were setting up. He also was asking me if I was there to have sex with two 14 year old girls. The reason was that they were talking to a guy that same day that wanted to have sex with two 14 year old girls. I did not expect any of this to happen at this point. At that moment after I had a camera shoved in my face I knew I was lied to. I was not going to stay because they were asking me stuff that was not true. They had set me up. I did not know if it was live TV I had no clue what was going on. I left bottom line. You can’t say what you would do unless you were in that spot.
