Nattie Neidhart DOI Interview

I recently had the opportunity to conduct an interview with one of the top female independent wrestlers on the scene, the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, Nattie Neidhart. Nattie Neidhart, whose official website can be viewed at Official Nattie Neidhart Website has traveled all over the world in her relatively short career.

In this interview, Nattie talks about her famous wrestling family, womens wrestling, influences, her dream match & much more.

I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : First off, thank you Nattie Neidhart for doing this interview with the DOI. My first questions for you are how are you doing and what's going on currently in your career?

Nattie Neidhart: I am doing great...I feel like I am in the best shape of my life and in a great frame of mind. I couldn't be happier, or healthier. I also feel like my dreams are coming true in all areas of my life, and I know that my hard work will allow me to achieve anything I want.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : I'm sure you've been asked this question a million times, but it is a question that hasn't been answered on the DOI before- What's it like being part of the famous wrestling Hart family?

Nattie Neidhart: To me, my family is the reason I am the person I am. We have gone through so much, but we manage to stick together through thick and thin...and somehow, wrestling is still such an enormous part of our everyday lives. My grandfather instilled so much pride in us, and I am always proud to carry the family name and be a part of such an extroardinary group of people. We are quirky, eccentric as well. But, I believe that we are humble decent people who only pull out the suplexes when the going gets tough!!! I love my family and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : Being in the Hart family, is there pressure on you to succeed in wrestling?

Nattie Neidhart: Always. I feel it all the time, and I know that people expect more from me. That is why I work hard, I do my homework and I go into everything with a positive attitude. It's a double edged sword, but you can succeed and I know that the younger generation of Hart's will do our family name proud.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What are your thoughts on Teddy Hart & Harry Smith?

Nattie Neidhart: Teddy is Teddy. He is his own man and he really does have guts to do what he does. I don't always know what makes him tick, but he has a good heart, and passion for what he beleives in. Harry, is one of my best friends and just a wonderful human being. He reminds me of my grandfather sometimes, and he is so mature for his age. I tell people all the time, that Harry will change the wrestling business. Just wait and see. He also is a good teacher and very loyal, too.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What are your thoughts on the current state of indy womens wrestling? Thoughts on WWE womens wrestling?

Nattie Neidhart: I wish there were more for us girls to do, but it is changing and more promotions are coming along. There are a lot of great girls who can do some fantastic stuff in the ring. They just need a stage and a chance to shine.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : Do you think WWE Diva Searches are good for females in the wrestling business or do you think they take up spots for better & more qualified girls?

Nattie Neidhart: They serve their purpose because people tune in. They add diversity and they allow people to watch them do their thing, so that down the line, when they learn how to wrestle the fans will appreciate their growth in the ring, too. It mixes it up, and allows people to crave a little more of the actual wrestling, by diversifying the concept of the female role.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : Who are some of your favorite opponents to wrestle? Who don't you like wrestling?

Nattie Neidhart: I like wrestling the Japanese and some of the girls in England. I love to work the Dungeon's Belle Lovitz. She's a great little worker and has a lot of spunk. Amazing Kong is brilliant...totally one of a kind. I have never had a problem with any girl I have worked, because I always try to make the best out of the situations I am put in, in the ring. There will always be someone lesser or greater than you...so you gotta' roll with it!

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : If you could book one dream match for yourself, who would be in the opposite corner?

Nattie Neidhart: Trish Stratus.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What matches do you consider your favorite?

Nattie Neidhart: I like Wembley with Davey and Bret and anything Kanemoto. I also like the Bulldogs in their heyday. They changed the course of wrestling for their time and generations to come.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What is your favorite country to wrestle in?

Nattie Neidhart: Japan.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What are some of your funniest road stories?

Nattie Neidhart: I would say having 6 wrestlers stuffed in a small car in England for 6 hours, and then having us not eat anything because nothing was open. We were all nautious and so giddy that I can't recall anything but a feel of hysterical comraderie! It was great...that is the best part of wrestling...the connections that you make.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : Outside of your family, what other wrestlers have influenced your career?

Nattie Neidhart: TJ Wilson, Amazing Kong, Tokyo Joe and Mariko Yoshida. I also love Kanemoto's attitude and Minoru (Heat). Jado and Gedo are cool, too.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : Do you think hardcore wrestling can be successful in the womens game?

Nattie Neidhart: Maybe. I don't know for sure though. I am only really interested in wrestling that will allow me longevity in the sport. Something I can make a career out of and still preserve my body for the long haul.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What are your thoughts on indy promoters? Do you have any sleazy indy promoter stories?

Nattie Neidhart: No. I have been fortunate to work for good people. Maybe I am just lucky.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : Who are some of your favorite male wrestlers?

Nattie Neidhart: Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Kanemoto, my family ofcourse. They are my true inspirations. But, I like some of the guys quite a bit. I like Eddie as Black Tiger. He was sensational.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What are your career goals?

Nattie Neidhart: I want to wake up and be happy doing whatever it is I choose to do. I want to wrestle because that makes me happy. Like anyone else, I want to rise to the top, on the big stage and do my best to shine.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What's in the immediate future for Nattie Neidhart?

Nattie Neidhart: Only the future holds that. I just want to do what I love, be around great people and have passion within my work.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : If you could bitchslap one person in the wrestling business, who would it be?

Nattie Neidhart: No one!!!

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What's the biggest misconception about Nattie Neidhart?

Nattie Neidhart: That I am "the world's most beautiful gorilla." I read that somewhere, and it is so silly...and so untrue. I have my dad's genetics and I am proud to be strong.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: : What do you want to say to anyone reading this?

Nattie Neidhart: Thanks for the support and I hope that you are able to pursue all of your dreams and chase them as hard as you can. Never give up and always show your guts!!!
