Boogalou and Low Ryda

DOI: When did you first know you wanted to get involved in professional wrestling?

Boogalou and Low Ryda: We both watched wrestling since we were young because our parents loved it. So when we had the chance, we beat the shit out the kids on our block and pretended to be the British Bulldogs.

DOI: Tell us about your training at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn and what it was like being trained by a legend like Johnny Rodz.

Boogalou: When I started there, it was land of the giants. I learned a lot and I learned fast from Angel from the Baldies, La Raza, WWM Bandito, and Damian Dragon. Then I started training people after about six months.

Lowryda: Well, I got in there and my brother had me there at 8 AM on Saturdays and I learned my bumps and shit, fast. I was flying everywhere until I broke my foot and now I’m trying to get back some of that shit.

DOI: What were their impressions of the Doghouse while you were training at Gleason’s Gym?

B and L: Well, at Gleason’s, the Doghouse and their workers were referred to as glorified backyarders but when we started going there we liked it and saw it wasn’t that at all.

DOI: When you both came to the Doghouse, you ran in the same circle as Homicide. What are your thoughts about Homicide as a person, as a trainer, and as a student of the game?

B and L: As a person he is misunderstood, he got a bum rap but he’s like a brother to us as a trainer. He’s great. We learned from him and he and I (Boogie) made many throw up including my brother. As a student of the game he’s always studying and learning, and he’s getting the matches he deserves.

DOI: Boogalou, you have teamed up with the likes of Damian Dragon in the Natural Born Killers and then teamed up with Homicide to form the Natural Born Sinners. Tell us about each of them as tag team partners and your thoughts on both, as singles wrestlers.

B: As partners, Damian and I were good as a team because we worked each other for 2 years straight and knew each others every move. As a singles wrestler he’s good and struggles with the identity of Damian Dragon. Homicide…I was hand picked to be his partner and we gelled naturally as a team. Then the comp got scared. As a singles worker he’s the most underrated in the biz.

DOI: Tell us how it feels having a brother involved in the business and what are your impressions of him?

B: It’s good you know them their whole life and you don’t have to worry about them sticking a knife in your back. My impression of my brother is that he’s a great all around wrestler who hasn’t lived up to his full potential.

L: Well, it’s a dream come true to get to tag with my bro. Ever since we were young, we wanted to be a team. I’m glad he’s always there in the ring and out to help me with whatever problems come my way. As for my impression of him, he’s my favorite wrestler. I get more amped for his matches then anything or anyone.

DOI: You both started your careers in NYC and have taken it over to WXW in PA. Do you have any plans on returning home to NYC to work in USA Pro or ICW?

B and L: Well as of July 18, 2003, we made an impact on ICW and as of July 20th we are going to get back at USA Pro.

****Note to the readers: Boogalou and Low Ryda returned to NYC and the Elks Lodge in Impact Championship Wrestling and made a major impact like they said. Both looked ferocious in their work and I personally see major things for both of them in the upcoming months and years.

DOI: Boogalou, you were involved in some controversy involving Ring of Honor and XPW that really got everyone very aware that XPW was invading the East Coast. Care to talk about that at all?

B: To make a long story short, XPW contacted us (Natural Born Sinners: Boogalou and Homicide) and Da Hit Squad. I left the choice to Homicide. He said we were going and then he went back and forth on his decision. I didn’t know what was going on and Ring of Honor found out when we had said we weren’t doing XPW, ROH got in touch with everyone but me until last because I have a job. All the blame was put on me and I was told to come to the show. This will be my last show for ROH. Then Homicide said fuck that you’re going to XPW with your brother. He stayed for 20 more bucks.

L: I would like to state for da record FUCK YOU GABE U PEICE OF SHIT! You don’t no me don’t talk shit about me ill SLAP you in your face if you come 2 me with dat shit. MAN THE FUCK UP and say whatever u want about me 2 me BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DOI: Tell us your feelings about XPW and what in your opinion happened with that company that had so much promise.

B and L: We both liked it a lot. It was different then any Indy we had seen. They had legends, future legends. I wish we would have had more time there and as for what happened, like KOBE we have no comment.

DOI: Low Ryda, you have been a part of a few tag teams that have been very successful over the years. Who has been your favorite partner to team with and why? And to follow up on that, who did you NOT enjoy working with and why?

L: Well, I have had mad partners. My latest partner, Guapo calls me the Billy Gunn of the Indies! I had Nasty N*gga Nate, Deranged, Azrieal, Guapo (Mr. Roboto), Striker aka: Hydro, Velvet Curtin Link, my brother Boogie, and many more. I can’t say I didn’t like anyone of them, I enjoyed them all for the time we teamed.

DOI: Do you both enjoy teaming together and have you had matches against each other professionally?

B and L: Yeah, we enjoy teaming up. We wrestled each other a bunch of times some of my best matches (Low Ryda).

DOI: Boogalou, tell us about your amateur wrestling background.

Boogalou: When I was in high school, I joined the wrestling team and kicked ass. I don’t like to brag.

DOI: Who have been your toughest opponents thus far in your career?

L: Boogalou, Mexico’s Most Wanted, Samu, Jamal – who’s 3 minutes were up, Azrieal, Abunai, Brian XL, A.M.I.L, Nasty N*gga Nate.

B: Lowryda, Mexico’s Most Wanted, Samoans, Da Hit Squad, FBI, Don Juan, Nana.

DOI: Tell us about your trips to Texas and what the wrestling scene was like down there.

B and L: Shit was sweet, we loved it so much we are ready to move there soon enough. Wrestling out there was like WXW…very old school working and we would like to thank Rudy Boy for the chance.

DOI: Boogalou, what exactly happened to the abandoned house of the Von Erich’s?

B: Right now we are currently renovating and building projects.

DOI: Boogalou, you are a tremendous technical wrestler and a suplex machine, how do you feel about the way promoters use you today? If you were the promoter, how would you use Boogalou differently?

B: I have no problem with the way promoters use me because they all respect me and let me use my own judgment. As far as suplexing, I don’t throw them all because I don’t want to use everything in one match. As far as my technical skills, I don’t want to make my opponents look too bad. If I was a promoter I would use myself as an enforcer.

Note to readers: Boogalou and Low Ryda were both used as Enforcers in ICW as Jac Sabboth’s new group called The Dynasty along with Tim Arson and Prince Nana before the company closed.

DOI: Low Ryda, what’s the deal with using a catcher’s mitt when playing left field?

L: It’s my lucky glove. We won mad championships with me using it. My brother bought it for me when I was like 8 years old.

DOI: Low Ryda, some consider you to be a cruiserweight yet you do not fit today’s image of one - guys that do nothing but high spots. What do you think distinguishes you from other cruiserweights on the Indy scene today?

L: I can work. Why would I want to do what every other guy is doing? I don’t like spotfests.

DOI: Drew Barrymore, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez and Penelope Cruz are having a 4 corners match with the winner getting a date with each one of you. You are about to do a run in. Who are you interfering for and how would the match end?

L: Drew Barrymore - she got them huge thangs!

B: Angelina Jolie because she’s never had any latino meat and she got cock smoking lips!

DOI: What are your opinions of Strong Style wrestling?

B and L: We love it and Boogie lives by it.

DOI: Do you have any plans of touring Japan in the future?

B and L: Yes, hopefully soon.

DOI: Boogalou, what’s the deal with the dreaded RUBBER CHICKEN? How many bricks were hidden inside of it since it did so much damage to all your opponents?

B: A fan gave it to me, I used it, and it got over. There’s nothing inside of it. I know how to swing for the fences!

DOI: What do you feel was your most memorable match and moment in professional wrestling?

L: My debut at the Elks Lodge vs. Striker and my match vs. Mexico’s Most Wanted at the Arena.

B: Ask me when I retire.

DOI: If you had to pick one opponent to work at Wrestlemania (or the Tokyo Dome) who would that opponent be?

L: At Wrestlemania vs Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrero in a 3 way.

B: Me vs Jesus Christo - Judgement Day match at Wrestlemania or Funk - whoever shows up ready to go!

DOI: Take this moment to say something to all of the fans reading this right now.

B and L: To the ones that like us thanks and to the ones that hate - fuck y’all you waste your money to see us anyway!
