What up fartknockers and welcome to another McInterview only on the DOI website. I had the pleasure of re-interviewing one of the most hated, one of the most underrated and someone who is never afraid to speak his mind, "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews. Kevin Matthews last did an interview for the DOI about 10 months ago, and it caused quite an uproar. To read that interview go to Kevin Matthew's First DOI Interview. KM:I'm doing great Mic, It's cool to be back up on the Number Independent Wrestling Website on the Internet.. How's that for kissing ass right off the bat eh? MIC: Good ass kissing, but if you really want good press, I like Heineken, but I digress... Since our last interview where you went all out, you have elevated your career. You recently worked NWA TNA in a short tag match. What did you get out of your NWA TNA experience and what do you think your status is in the company?
KM:I had the PLEASURE of Working with 2 guys that I have watched on TV for years now in Simon Diamond & Johnny Swinger. We had a pretty short match but none the less I thought It went very well and had alot of fun. My STATUS? I'm not a full time worker for NWA TNA so I don't really have a "Status" There. However May 5th will be my next NWA TNA match. MIC:Prior to getting into NWA-TNA you worked for Bill Behrens in NWA Wildside. How is NWA Wildside and what does it offer that no other promotion offers?
KM:NWA WILDSIDE & most importantly Bill Behrens is what opened up alot of doors for me, Namly allowing me to showcase my talent for NWA TNA. I owe alot to Bill Behrens and really appreciate all he has done for me. I urge everyone to check out NWA-Wildside and support one of the all around best promotions around. MIC:Recently, you had what was named SSCW Match of the year by the fans, the promoter and even by the booker at the time. You defeated Danny Demanto in a Loser-Leaves-SSCW Ladder match. You put on one hell of a performance and Danny Demanto almost had a memorial show out of it due to a mistimed dive. First, what was your thoughts before, during and after the match? Where does this match stand on a personal level? Would you consider it one of your best?
KM:I'm not sure if it was Match of the YEAR at SSCW, But it did get the most reaction out of the crowd and did live up to the very little hype it got. I went all out and broke my ass out there for a company I considered home. Now most guys take on matches like this for the simple fact that they will get double or even triple there pay to do such a match. I went out and broke my ass literally for $20 (which I had to nag for.. Pathetic right?) Me and Danny have had some of the worst matches of my life and his for that matter but we knew if you give us any kind of match with eachother where we wouldnt have to "wrestle" we could steal the show. And thats exactly what we did.
The match wasn't my BEST wrestling match but it was probably my all around favorite or atleast in the top 3 thus far. Before the match I was physced, During the match I was pumped, After the match I was happy I was walking out and not being carried out. You See SSCW can say that was there best show to date blah blah blah but IF me & Danny didn't go out there and do what we promised that show would of SUCKED! Sad but True Hows that for a Ego Trip? Then Again They Had Josh Deely on the show to make sure those fans went home happy!
KM:Everyone knows the Promoter doesn't leave his house and has everyone else running his shows which I guess is his own business. But in the same sense How are you going to "FIRE" me, Firstly Im not under contract with noone. Vince McMahon has contracts and even though some promoters I won't mention names like to think there Carmine McMahon and play little baby games because KM said a potty word during a match. Ok I said "Fuck" if anyone was in attendence at the last show and heard the promos going on then dont expect another show because 99.9% of the Roster will be fired for there "potty mouths". I did alot for SSCW including canceling other shows because the promoter didnt like the other promoter, loosing pay days at work to get there early and doing what was told. But to go out there for $20 have 40 people there between me & danny and send every fan home happy for killing our own bodies and get "fired" for it because some people want to feel they have "power" its stupid and childish. My Status with SSCW is past tense I'm done there. I wish them the best but can care less what happens to them. They go through bookers like Mic u go through beers.. I shouldn't even say SSCW, SSCW was fun the locker room was great I miss seeing all my friends there together. Vin wish you luck with the book, your a good guy with a good head on your shoulder. I consider you a friend buddy.
KM:To my knowledge it was 4days ! But I take credit for that I had a talk with danny over there and told him if he hates it there he doesn't have to be there. IT proves nothing, you dont have to be 200miles away to get into shape you have nothing to prove to anyone but yourself. Whoever doesn't like it the fuck what they think, If you like yourself thats all that matters if you want to get in shape then do it where your most comfortable.. AT HOME! just never cut a promo about it after our ladder match you dim wit!! LOL!! MIC:There has been a rumor, that I have gotten from a legit source, that you are, for a lack of a better term, blackballed, from the New England area. Is this true and why do you think this rumor is getting spread?
KM:I heard the same thing for more then 1 person, BUT I talked with a few buddies of mine over in the area that work for the only companies in that area that matter and they all said my name is still fine with those companies. So if a couple of Backyard feds in New England want to blackball KM All the more power to them, I'll even sign the petition to help blackball myself : )
MIC:You have done alot of work for Jac Sabboth and learned from Sabboth as well. What is your current relationship with Jac Sabboth and what do you think about Jac Sabboth booking USA Pro Wrestling?
KM:ALOT of work for Jac is a HUGE under statement. Honostly Jac made me more promises then everyone in the business has combined.My own fault I believed him. He told me a while ago while I was helping him "TRUST ME in the End it will all be worth it" Plain and simple jac sabboth is a liar, hes full of shit, he uses people to benefit him. I along with a few others have done more for him then anyone else while ICW & UCW were running. I was used by Jac only way about it, like a cheap whore. I was young and learning. Me & Danny had a horrible match there and my 3 way wasnt good either, But I was New & Learning if your going to make promises keep them. He has the Book for USAPRO now, Notice my name anywhere? LOL.. Don't worry Mic TRUST ME in the END IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT. Scumbag. MIC:Mia Angel has left professional wrestling. Do you feel you were one of the reasons why she quit, after the things you said in your last interview?
KM:Honostly I hope I am the reason she left, because the Business DOES NOT NEED people like her in it, shes a cancer to the locker room and a blemish to the industry. I couldn't be happier to see her leave. Oh yea never again put topless pictures of ur sandbag tits on the net don't you know everything gets around?

KM:Supposably Jimmy's Fed isn't done yet and he still has plans to run. Im not 100% sure what is going on well have to wait and see. The first show I thought was really good, and I had a blast doing commentary.
MIC:You were fired about 4 months ago from USA Pro Wrestling on the Masked Maniac hotline. What is your current status with USA Pro Wrestling?
KM:I Was Fired? Oh man look at that I just keep getting fired. I hate when companies "release me of my contract". Well now with Jac having the book all I have to say is "Trust me in the end it will all be worth it" MIC:What does Kevin Matthews need to do to get his name out there and be looked at in a positive light?
KM:Right now in 2004 its time to get serious, I started the Year off with a bang working Wildside & TNA I plan to continue that hoping to work a few shows up in beautiful Canada this year as well as continue in NWA Wildside. How far that brings my name I guess will just wait and see. MIC:You recently had a really good match with John Walters that not too many people have seen. Is there any chance of a rematch down the line and what is it like working with a wrestler that is being called one of the biggest breakout stars?
KM: There is noone I would rather wrestle on the Independents then John, I think we have fun chemistry together and everytime we work he brings out the best in me. I beleive if we worked today we could tear it up. Jac promised at his last cancelled show it would be John & Myself in the Elks which would have been a dream but like always he was probably full of shit. MIC:What do you think about the current state of the indies?
KM:Theres alot of great ones out there with NWA WILDSIDE down south, CHAOTIC in NEW ENGLAND, ECWA/ROH/WORLD1/JAPW and a few others drawing several hundred consistantly over here. I mean it all depends on where you work really. I think wrestling right now is fine, its no where near its peek but its not about to be over. Just like everything with time comes changes but right now Wrestling is fine. Some Companies shouldnt be allowed to run shows and should be arrested for making people buy tickets. MIC:You find someone with lots of money who wants you to book a fed. Who are the first 10 wrestlers you sign and how would you run your promotion?
KM:John Walters,Low Ki, Chris Daniels, Stevie Richards, Steve Corino, Paul London, Homicide, Charlie Haas, Jamie Noble, Chris Benoit. Not sure how I would run it with so much great talent it would be hard to screw up. MIC: Just turning 21 recently, where do you see yourself 3 years from now?
KM:3 years ago Feb 2001 I was working for Dory Funks School, February 2004 I worked for NWA TNA, Hopefully February 2007 see a 24 yr old Kevin Matthews Under WWE Contract. MIC:What do you want to say to anyone reading this?
