J-Money

CCW Heavyweight Champion, Johnny Dowe aka J-Money

What’s up everyone and welcome to another McInterview. This time J-Money aka Johnny Dowe sits down for an interview. Johnny Dowe works primarily in Pennsylvania and can be a great addition to any promotion around the NY/NJ area. J-Money doesn’t shy away from any questions. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: How did you get your start in pro wrestling? What was your training like?

Johnny Dowe: Well I started by giving a crap school all of my money just for them to show me how to bump. Later after I was robbed, a guy be the name of Rob Noxious came along, took me in and retrained me. He took every day of his summer to work with me to make me better, had it not been for him I may not be wrestling today, I truly do owe a lot to him, and I still train with him now three days a week.

The MiC: Who were your favorite wrestlers? Least favorite?

J Dowe/$: Mr. Pefect, Bret Hart, The Rockers, Ric Flair, Triple H, Hogan were all wrestlers that made me want to get into the wrestling business, but I think Shawn Michaels shined above them all as far as what made me decide to get into wrestling. Wrestlers that I wasn't a big fan of were the guys that were all gimmick no wrestling, like the Ulimate Warrior.

The MiC: What promotions have you worked for? Out of those what are your favorites and least favorites?

J Dowe/$: I have worked for too many promotions to name, but some of my favorites are CCW, TWWA, and NVW. CCW has guys that will do whatever a takes to send every fan home happy, it is one promotion that has come a long way in the last year, and I am confident it will be one of the top feds if it isn't already. I don't really have least favorites if I feel I get rubbed the wrong way at a place I don't go back, but that hasn't really happened too much in my career if I don't have fun there, then I really don't wanna be there.

The MiC: What wrestlers do you enjoy wrestling? Which wrestlers, currently on the indy scene, would you want to wrestle, that you haven't had the opportunity to do so?

J Dowe/$: I really enjoy wrestling guys that are just getting into wrestling, or anyone that hasn't had too many good matches, then it is my goal to always end their bad match streak. I also love wrestling Rob Noxious, we always step it up when we are in the ring together. Max Havok and I had one of the best old school matches I have ever done also, that was great.

I would really love to have an opportunity to work with Cabbie. I think Cabbie is one the most underrated talents out there, he can work, and has a great look, but still people tend to over look him.

The MiC: Where did you get the name J-Money from?

J Dowe/$: Rob Noxious modified my Johnny Dowe name once, Dowe as in Money, and I thought that sounded a lot better so I started to go with it, and after that it seemed like more people were remembering my name.

The MiC: You are currently the CCW World Heavyweight champion. How does it feel when a promotion makes you the champ, and puts you in main event matches, signaling that they think you're the best man for the job?

J Dowe/$: When I first became the CCW Champion it wasn't as big as it is now. It was kind of cool then, but it wasn't as much as an honor as it was the second time I won the belt, being that CCW had grown more and had become more popular. I think when a promotion has you as its champion it brings on a lot of responsibility, you are the main guy of that promotion, you have to make sure when you are wrestling for other promotions you look strong so that the promotion look strong. I feel very honored just working for CCW, but the fact that they think I am the right person to represent them as the CCW Heavyweight Champion is a huge ego booster, and honor.

The MiC: You are a young guy, but in your young career, what do you think has been your best match , and what do you think is your career highlight?

J Dowe/$: My best match and Career Highlight without a doubt is wrestling in Frackeville, PA against Rob Noxious in front of 900 people for the TWWA US Championship, the match was nearly perfect, and our hands were weak the next day because the crowd was in the palm or your hands the whole match, with every kickout they reacted, I will never forget that match.

The MiC: What is the best thing about being in the wrestling business?

J Dowe/$: I think the fact that I am living out a childhood dream, I think I am J-Money more hours of the day then I am myself, I am always training or going to shows whether I am booked or not just networking trying to get my name out there. This is what I have wanted to do all my life and now I am getting to do it.

The MiC: What are your short term career goals? Long term goals?

J Dowe/$: My short term goals are to get tryouts with some more popular feds or to get in with them, and to help make CCW grow. My long term goals are to make a living off this business somewhere.
