What’s up boys and girls and welcome to another McInterview, this time with rising indy wrestler, Jay Lethal. Jay Lethal has been on a roll collecting titles in JCW and JAP among others. He currently has made his way onto the ROH Special K roster, and is being touted as one of the breakout stars on the indies. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: How did you become a pro wrestler? What was your training like?

Jay Lethal: My first step in becoming a pro wrestler was going to a JAPW Show. Where I found out that they were having a "tough enough" contest On Friday July 7th 2001. So I decide with the help of my two best friends to go. And when I went luck was on my side cause I won. I would then Train with the school of JAPW (for free) for 6 months. Being So gifted I was one of the few students who had there own match, instead of just being in the battle royal. I was lucky enough on that student show to wrestle one of the best man I have step in the ring with and that’s Dixie. After my 6 months I had learned all I could for the school of JAPW cause it was being closed down. So my two best friends and me found another wrestling school. The QWA, which is Mikey Whipwrecks School. Here I trained with and met all of Mikeys students (new and old). Until his school closed down. Training for and with both places was not easy but it was worth it.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: When did you start getting into wrestling, and how did you know it was for you?

Jay Lethal: I started getting into wrestling at really young age. Cause with 4 other brothers you have to have something to do when the TV isn’t on.lol. But in 1998 is when I really took it seriously. Cause it was the first time I saw Chris Benoit in the ring. Everything he did for some reason at the point amazed me. I know for a fact, that the point when I knew wrestling was for me is when he gave his Snap Suplex. And ever since he has been my idol.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Who were your favorite wrestlers growing up? Least favorite?

Jay Lethal: My favorite wrestler of course is Chris Benoit. Up until I saw him my favorite wrestlers were The Macho Man, Jake the snake, and Bret hart. When it comes to a least favorite wrestler, it would have to be hulk Hogan, Cause I always went against who my brother liked.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You have worked alot of promotions in your short career. What promotions do you like the best and why? Do you not like any promotions?

Jay Lethal: I hate to single any Fed out like this but I like ROH the best. There are no promotions that I dislike.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: How does it feel to be working for one of the most respected indy promotions today, in ROH?

Jay Lethal: It feels Awesome and I'm glad to be apart of that family.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Your family is very supportive of your career. I always hated when my parents would cheer when I had little league games, how do you handle performing in front of your family all the time?

Jay Lethal: performing in front of my family isn’t even a big deal to me. They are just a part of the crowd when I’m in the ring. I only notice them when I take my mind off what I’m doing in the ring, which sometimes I never do. But never the less, it’s great that they’re out there cheering me on.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Is it true that your mom kicked John Shane’s ass?

Jay Lethal: LOL

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You recently had a great feud with Livewyre, who has since moved on to OVW. What was it like having a feud with him, and would you consider those matches one of your better matches?

Jay Lethal: I’m glad I had a chance to feud with him before he left because it was great. Livewyre is what I call a PRO In and out of the ring. I would (and DO) consider the matches I had with him, some of my best matches.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What is your favorite match you ever had and why? Best match?

Jay Lethal: My best match would have to be against a man named Dan Barry. In Other peoples minds I might of had a better match then this, but I personally liked this match. Our style of wrestling just fit so smoothly. This was one that I enjoyed.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What opponents do you like working with? Least favorite?

Jay Lethal: I have enjoyed working with all of my opponents.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: If Vince McMahon offered you a contract, would you take it?

Jay Lethal: Even though I have always wanted to wrestle in Japan for a while before I make it into the WWE, I think I would take the contract.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Speaking of Vince, and being African-American or black, how do you feel about the way WWF portrays the majority of their black wrestlers as stereotypes? (Godfather, Samba Simba, Nation of Domination, Sexual Chocolate, etc)

Jay Lethal: Well I can’t say I’m proud of it, but I think they are changing. Shelton is doing pretty good.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What would be your dream match?

Jay Lethal: My dream match would be stepping into the ring with Chris Benoit.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Do you have any prematch superstitions?

Jay Lethal: I have none that I know of, although I do pace around before my match. Does that count?

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What do you think about the Internet and its role in wrestling?

Jay Lethal: well, the Internet plays a role in everything else. LOL I think its great

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What are your short term and long-term goals?

Jay Lethal: well I pretty much have one goal right now; it’s to wrestle in Japan with my two best friends. Everything else I guess ill let ...fall into place.

Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What do you want to say to anyone reading this?

Jay Lethal: Thanks for reading this.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Thanks for doing this.
