Chris Idol

Hey everyone, and welcome to another McInterview. Todays guest is none other than up and coming superstar, Chris Idol. Chris Idol currently competes in JCW, IHPW and SSCW. I hope you enjoy the interview as much as I did.

Sean The MiC McCaffrey (From now known as The MiC) How did you get your start in the business?

Chris Idol: I got started by training in West Paterson NJ. Not for IWF, but for CWF which was open for about 5 months starting in the summer of 2001. I got in touch with then Booker Pete Ferriero who had been also a manager on the CWF shows. The shows were ran in Wayne NJ and were incredible. All ECW guys, legends, awesome shows. I contacted "PVO" and he had a special show at a Middle School, it wasnt for wrestling, it was to teach kids the danger of Backyard Wrestling. Earlier that year, I suffered 2 collapsed lungs surgery from Back Yard Wrestling. So I offered to help and tell kids what happened to me. From there, we went to the school, I got to learn Basics with Johnny Thundar one day, and then I was hooked. I was the 1st student along with my older brother. The headline trainer was Superfly Jimmy Snuka.

The MiC: How tough was your training?

Chris Idol: Training was always the worst. I can say CWF took so much care of me and made me learn the correct way. They took time with me, cause I didn't get it at all. My brother was good, I sucked. Kuvatro who was also a great trainer helped me out so much with the drills. In the summer he would bring guys from NY down to train with me,Guido,Angel from the baldies,Crowbar,Snuka Jr.,cause at this point I was the only student. I was very lucky no one else showed up there, all the attention was on me. Superfly Snuka was just a wonderful man who is so calm and relaxed when he trains. He made wrestling an art to me and made me enjoy it instead of "just getting it over with". I also learned more about how to run shows and how other wrestlers are and the promoting side of a wrestling company, not just training.PVO,Pete Aliano(CWF OWNER) Snuka's Kid) Kuvatro,Snuka all trained me the smarts and who and how to trust. All this info was given to me within months of training. I then trained at ECPW for a bit. Then JAP, which I got killed at and was introduced to the serious side of wrestling. I love it there though; JAP is the nicest students and some of my best friends. Fat Frank has always been great to me too. Chikara- I went there once over the summer, learned so much from reckless youth that I think my one time there made me a better wrestler, he is a genius. He is also Regal influenced, I love Regal. I was there once, learned alot. BWO I train at now helping new kids out and I get to work with Homicide time to time which is always good. He is a guy I love training with. He is so smart.

The MiC: What wrestlers were you a fan of growing up? Today?

Chris Idol: My favorite guys were the Superfly brudda, my child pics; i am always doing the I Love You Snuka signal. Today my fav. is Regal. He is a awesome wrestler.

The MiC: Who are your favorite indy wrestlers today?

Chris Idol: The guys I love to watch on the indys would have to be Homicide, Reckless Youth. When I watch, I like to learn, they teach me alot just by watching there matches. They're both incredible wrestlers.

The MiC: What is your favorite promotion to work for? Least favorite?

Chris Idol: I love working anywhere I can wrestle, not get squashed or anything. IHPW is of course my home, JCW is new to me but were very professional and welcomed me with open arms, BWO is like my home away from home, Richie Rotten has treated me like his kid and takes very good care of me as does Magic .ROH is of course very professional and working there with so much talent is overwhelming. SSCW is always fun, Carmine is always cool to me; Kane D is the nicest of guys to. ECPW is just a blast , when I use to work there; all my friends from when I started were there. Like Harry Acropolus. He helped me get into there. Then man handled me in a match years ago. Jersey All Pro is always cool. The rats there are just so addicted to me. Frank is a very smart guy, and knows what’s good for his product and is very straight forward don't mind working anywhere, as long as I can wrestle.

The MiC: Who's your favorite person to work with? Least favorite?

Chris Idol: I love wrestling cruiserweights, wrestlers my size. We can do alot of fun stuff because we are smaller then your average pro-wrestler. I've had wonderful matches w/ GQ in IHPW/BWO, my match w/ Sheridan in JCW was a blast and he is very underrated, he helped me out a real lot. My least favorite person to work would be Chris Callahan. All he is about is doing spots, He wants to do a 450 splash, then plancha, then cork screw suicide dive, then twisting Japanese man mountain rock splash. I mean come on, let me sell; all he is good for is High spots. Callahan. Jee Wiz.

The MiC: What's a day in the life of Chris Idol?

Chris Idol: I wake up, look around, make sure no one is watching me sleep. I then sneak to the bathroom to wash up and look pretty. I shut the curtain because I am not a fan of peeping toms. I shower, naked. But only for 2mins. As if I go any longer, I might melt. I go to my couch, turn on my "Best of William Regal" RF Video tape. I watch it , study it. He has taught me so much. I then head to the gym. Come home, chill with my girl, and watch my matches. Everything I do is wrestling oriented. I'm a real dork.

The MiC: You have recently competed in JCW. Will you be back there?

Chris Idol: Oh man I hope so. I had so much fun and everyone there is very respectful. Plus Ricky O and Sheridan took me in, which is rarely done in wrestling. They put me in the opener not knowing how good I am or how bad I may be. Thats a big deal, the match was not a squash, it was back and forth, they let me open the show, and the crowd was into it, its an honor. I want to go back very badly. Sheridan took care of me, as did Ricky, and I am grateful.

The MiC: What's the best thing you like about wrestling? Worst?

Chris Idol: The best thing about wrestling is performing. Once intermission comes on the shows, people come up, the praise your match, young kids look for your John Hancock on a flyer. It's a great feeling. Worst part of wrestling, it is hard to take one person's word. If you want to achieve, you have to rely on yourself, hats not really a bad thing though.

The MiC: Who are some of the people that you get along with in the business?

Chris Idol: I can get along with anyone. I realize I have to look out for me if I want to achieve. I get along with PVO from IHPW,he is the man who got me started in it all, I am very honored he took me under his wing, and a now dead promotion CWF and taught me the in's and outs. I also get along with guys from NY, the DRS, homicide, Crazy Ivan, maybe it's cause of my JAP days, but there respectful, maybe that’s how they were taught to act. Which is a good trait. Lazaro and Suba and Magic and Richie Rotten and everyone else are always cool with me. No drama. I can get along with anyone though honestly. I have no trouble with anyone, except Callahan cause all the crazy spots he does.

The MiC: What's up with the SSCW Hy-jinx gimmick?

Chris Idol: It's dead. I am Chris Idol.

The MiC: What would be your dream match?

Chris Idol: vs. William Regal, Reckless Youth, and Homicide.

The MiC: What are your career goals?

Chris Idol: To entertain people. To show I am a good performer. To show I have become so much better then 1 1/2 years ago when I performed on a high stage , which I shouldnt have, and I stunk it up cause I was very green still. It was in JAP, I worked Magic in a squash, and then joined Christopher Street Connection. I wasnt ready for it. JAP had a high standard for talent; I did not deserve to be there with no experience. Plus I didn't deserve to be in the locker room. All though everyone there took care of me.
