What up DOI-ites, and welcome to another McInterview. This time, Chris Hamrick did an interview for the DOI. Chris Hamrick has worked ECW to XPW to JAP. Hamrick wrestles at a very hard pace and has had many great matches. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: How did you get into wrestling? What made you want to get into wrestling?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I started going to wrestling with my family when I was 7 years old. We used to go to the Mid Atlantic shows every Saturday and Monday nights.... My dad bought me a wrestling ring for my 9th birthday. I had my first pro match when I was 16....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You have wrestled all over the United States. What has been your favorite venue, and what part of the US did you like the most through your travels?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I personally loved wrestling at the ECW arena and the Hammerstein Ballroom...
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Where did the "Confederate Currency" gimmick come from?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: Well when we (EZ Money and Julio Dinero) came up with the idea of the whole money thing, Joey Styles came up with the name, he said it had to do with money and from being from the south....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Who were your favorite and least favorite wrestlers growing up?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: Ric Flair, was the only wrestler I even cared about from the time I was 7 to 17, then, Ricky Morton, Tommy Rich, New Breed, Buddy Landel, and then, Shawn Michaels...Least favorite...Hulk Hogan
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What are your favorite promotions to work for, and why?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: Well, I loved XPW, when they ran shows...I used to pick the PWF as my favorite, until they closed.... I love working for DCW, they know how to really treat the boys...
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You have wrestled on the last few CSWF shows. Why do you think that CSWF's attendance is low?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I honestly don’t know, I don’t understand why they don't draw, I mean with a main event like Ron Killings against Homicide...That should draw....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What was it like working for Rob Black, and do you think XPW will ever run another show?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I have nothing but respect for Rob Black. He has treated me with respect since the first time I wrestled for him. I miss XPW and hope they do start running shows again...
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Who are your favorite opponents?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: Kid Kash, New Jack, Nova, Kaos, Justice Pain, I have also had good matches with Steve Corino, and CM Punk....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Do you think the internet has ruined wrestling?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: One way Yes, and No....Yes, because it has smartened so many people up to the business.... No, because you can keep up with what your favorite wrestlers are up to, if you cant go to all the shows....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What do you think has been your best match?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: Honestly, I have no idea, I am just happy when I have a match, that the crowd doesn’t shit on or either me or my opponent gets hurt. Also, when I get paid at the end of the night lol
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: If WWE offered you a contract, would you take it? I don’t think I would, you have to go when they want you to, and shit.... I get to pick what shows I want to do now....
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: What's a regular day in the life of Chris Hamrick? Hanging out, answering questions on the Internet...(laughs)
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What wrestlers, indies or WWE, do you think shouldn't be wrestling?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: Just the indy guys that think they are the next Shawn Michaels, and don't know the difference between a wrist watch and a wrist lock...I do know plenty of guys like that too....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You work a very breakneck style. How much does it affect your health?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I hurt all the time....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Do you have any pre-match superstitions?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I pray before every match....
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What career goals have you met, and do you have any career goals that you still want to accomplish?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I have done what I wanted to, I have been overseas, wrestled in 38 out of 50 states so far...Did the PPV's for ECW. I'm happy...
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What do you want to say to anyone reading this?
“Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick: I want to say this to the fans, everything I do, is for you. I honestly do know that without the fans, we aren’t shit.
