As part of our on-going 2007 ECWA Super 8 coverage, the DOI will be interviewing all eight Super 8 competitors in this year's tournament. Our interview today is none other than ECWA Hall of Famer, Rob Eckos. Eckos, who is a veteran of the northeast indy scene, has found his home in ECWA where he holds the record with Billy Bax, as 1/2 of the longest reigning ECWA tag team champions in ECWA history.

Eckos, who started out of the IWF school in Northern, NJ used IWF as his launching pad into other NJ promotions such as SSCW, JAPW, JCW, CSWF, NWS & other local NJ promotions from 2002 and on. Eckos would find his stride in ECWA and based off his ECWA work, would be invited to several WWE shows, where he's had random roles, such as the guy who got beat up by Edge in the Ric Flair parody skit, security spots & more.

Now, on 10/17, the biggest focus in Eckos' young career is November 10th, the day of the 11th annual Super 8 tournament. With less than a month ago, find out who Rob Eckos is and his thoughts on the Super 8 tournament.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Hey Rob , it's a pleasure to have you on the DOI once again after many years. My first question for you is what was going through your head when you were called by Jim Kettner to see if you were available for this year's Super 8 tournament?

Rob Eckos: I was pretty calm at first, as it moves closer to the tournament i am getting more and more excited as this could be the niggest night of my wrestling career...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You are an ECWA Hall of Famer, with your Valedictorians tag team partner Billy Bax. How does being in the Super 8 compare to the honor of being in the ECWA Hall of Fame?

Rob Eckos: Two totally different honors, both are great, but hall of fame is in the past, the super 8 is my future...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who has been a positive influence in your career?

Rob Eckos: Jim Kettner is probably one of the only people in wrestling that i trust, he has helped me so much...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Would you like to wrestle anyone specifically at this year's Super 8? Is there anyone you think you don't match up well with? Are you nervous about possibly being paired against your partner Billy Bax?

Rob Eckos: Whoever i wrestle i wrestle..I have stpeed in the ring with Jerry Lynn, Matt Cross and Matt Logan before so i know what to expect from them...The important thing is winning...As for wrestling Bax, it is a tournament, anything can happen...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: With DVDs highlighting promotions all over the world and an abundance of promotions doing tournaments seemingly every week, do you think the Super 8 tournament means as much as it used to?

Rob Eckos: I still think it does..If you are a true wrestling fan and have half a brain you can tell the Super 8 is still always different then any tournament and still creates stars...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: In your opinion, what matches of yours are your favorite? Obviously, being an ECWA regular, Jim Kettner knows what you are capable of. However, are there any matches that you think made ECWA promoter Jim Kettner say, "I need him for this year's Super 8?"

Rob Eckos: I don't think it is any match in particular, i certainly think i am qualififed enough and certainly will not let anyone down...People don't know anything about me or what i m capable of...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your memories of SSCW & Carmine Sabia? How do you feel about Carmine Sabia saying "I made Rob Eckos"?

Rob Eckos: I think that rules...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You've done several guest spots on WWE television. Would you ever consider wrestling for TNA or would you rather not jeopardize your WWE chances?

Rob Eckos: I would love to wrestle for TNA, but my ultimate goal is the WWE...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Are you physically prepared to go three matches in the Super 8 tournament?

Rob Eckos: Always...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What's a normal day in the life of Rob Eckos?

Rob Eckos: School or work, gym, more school or work and closeness with the love of my life...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your short-term and long-term career goals?

Rob Eckos: Short term goal is to wrap up school which will happen very shortly and my long term goal is to be able to have my short term goal to fall back on while in the WWE...

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Is there anything you want to say to anyone reading this?

Rob Eckos: Watch this year's Super 8 with an open mind, you will not be disappointed...
