DEVON MOORE DOI INTERVIEW
Devon Moore, with the PWU Heavyweight Title
What's up everyone and welcome to another McInterview, here on the DOI. Today I interviewed one of Philadelphia's most talked
about wrestlers, Devon Moore. When we last had Devon on the site, the year was 2003 and Devon was struggling for work with
his Notorious Inc tag team partner, Drew Blood. Now, in 2008, Devon has had several Heavyweight title runs in the same
building that gave us RVD, Sabu, Taz & many others.
Moore, recently a much talked about subject in the never-ending CZW/PWU saga, made his CZW debut several weeks ago, after
being rumored to jump there for some time. However, there was a twist, as Moore did not "jump" from PWU to CZW, as he is now
wrestling for both companies, where everyone from the fans, to Moore to the companies, are benefitting in this win-win
situation. Could a CZW/PWU angle be on the horizon? Time will tell, but for now, I hope you enjoy this exclusive interview
with Devon Moore, where he also replies to comments made by Trent Acid, who recently questioned Moore's career choices.
Note: to keep the "realism" of this interview, Moore's language and/or style of writing was not edited. I felt that after
reading the answers, you get more of a feel of who Moore really is and that the interview comes off more personable. I hope
that when fans read this, they feel like they are chatting with Devon Moore on Instant Messenger. If you like this format let
me know, if not, I really don't care!
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Devon you've come a long way since your career began several
years ago. You started out as just an afterthought on a lot of shows that were... just an afterthought. You were undersized,
and unknown and most people figured you'd never amount to anything in this business. Did you ever think you'd make it as far
as you have, and become such a big name on the Independent scene, and even win heavyweight titles?
Devon Moore: No way a couple years ago Drew and I both worked one place and were about to quit then we
got the opportunity to work for Afa & WXW...then PWU opened the school in Philly and we started working out there and now
it's 2008 and look where pwu is; you were there in the beginning Sean, you saw the animal house.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Those people that know you well will say that one of the main
reasons that you have been so successful is because of your "heart". Do you agree with this assessment? Is that really your
secret weapon?
Devon Moore: oh yeah I remember being told I'm too small you wont ever do anything and that always
driven me to keep going. people told me to quit, stop wasting your time. well it's 7 years later and half the people said
that aren't even around, so it is what it is
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What were some of your favorite, or least favorite moments or
promotions from the early portion of your career? Can you give us any funny Danny Demanto stories? What was it like being at
the infamous SSCW ladder match?
Devon Moore: wow I don't even know where to start they were all bad for different reasons. I got a
real good Danny story. it was like 4-5 years ago Hayden {if you don't know him sucks for you} drew and I went up to new York
to chill with Danny, Becky, Kevin Matthews,el shoes and some other people.drew and I had a half gallon of captain Morgan and
Danny grabs it and downs half the bottle in like 5 minutes.20 minutes later he gets up and falls right on his face he is so
drunk he cant move so Hayden grabs a stapler and starts shooting staples in Danny's head. it was the funniest things I ever
seen Danny looked like a beached whale on the floor and Hayden just kept stapling things to him and Danny couldn't get up.
Also, the night Danny spit in Mia angel's face was classic... Oh god sscw it sucked cause I thought Danny's dumb ass killed
himself.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: As most people know, you have basically become Pro Wrestling
Unplugged's #1 attraction. Do you feel any pressure being the face of one of Philadelphia's biggest promotions?
Devon Moore: at one time yeah now not that much I just go with the flow I don't try too think to much
about it cause when you get thinking is when things go wrong
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Speaking of Danny Demanto, you, he and Drew Blood were once
partners in the Original "Notorious Inc"... it's been a while since the three of you were together as a unit. What do you
think of the path both Danny and Drew's careers have taken?
Devon Moore: I think Danny did a great job he calmed down stopped being looked at as a joke doing good
in japw and czw as for drew think this year will be his year. yeah I said it drew's my bro. he been doing just as well as
Danny in my opinion people forget he is the longest reigning wxw cruiserweight champion ever!
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Another member of Notorious Inc was Tara Charisma. What are your
thoughts on her? Is it true she has full blown aids?
Devon Moore: I wouldn't be surprised (if she had AIDS)... I don't have thoughts on her.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Despite your role in PWU, the consensus among many is that a
long and bright future awaits you and your career at neighboring Philadelphia fed Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). You even
recently made your debut there at their January show in the main event to a very favorable reaction from their crowd. What do
you think about CZW, and do you see yourself being a part of their full time roster in the near future?
Devon Moore: czw is czw they been around for nine years they gotta be doing something right. January I
had a great time there but pwus my home ill leave it at that.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Speaking of CZW, your home company PWU and CZW are believed to
be embroiled in what fans perceive to be a "turf war" at the former ECW Arena. Do you think this whole "war" is blown out of
proportion, and is it good, or bad for business?
Devon Moore: I think it's dumb. None of the boys have heat with each other so I don't even pay
attention to it.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Despite the constant comparisons, PWU and CZW aren't quite as
similar as some people would think. PWU tends to appeal to and target a younger audience consisting of families & kids and a
much smaller national DVD market. CZW tends to appeal to a more specialized hardcore fanbase, but also a much wider national
audience due to their popularity with Smart Mark Video. Do you prefer one audience over another, or do you like to be able to
work different styles of crowds?
Devon Moore: I like being able to work different crowds it makes you better. if you can wrestle in
front of kids doesn't mean you can work in front of a hardcore crowd or a true wrestling crowd you need that variety. it
doesn't matter I just like to work.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on ticket sellers and people who pay to
play, like Helter Skelter, in indy wrestling?
Devon Moore: they make us look bad. here are some untrained kids playing wrestler when they pay no
dues. its sad.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Not many people know about your relationship with PWU booker and
bankroll Tod Gordon. Can you talk a little bit about what Tod means to you, your career, and PWU.
Devon Moore: I'm going to quote too cold and say "tod is god". he is great I've learned so much in the
last couple years between tod and Scorpio they both mean a lot to me. no tod = no pwu
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: While the war between the companies may be blown out of
proportion in some ways, there's no denying that current/former (depending on who you believe) PWU owner/founder Johnny
Kashmere has been the center of controversy with his... well... controversial way of doing business. What are your thoughts
on Johnny and what is your relationship like with him today?
Devon Moore: really nothing to say I don't know nothing and don't wanna know nothing
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: On the topic of controversy (because as everyone knows, it
creates cash)... Trent Acid recently went on Billy Reil's hotline and had some not so great things to say about you.
According to Trent, you are "just another worker", and your work rate is nothing special. Do you have any response to Trent's
comments, and what's your relationship like with Trent today?
Devon Moore: I don't really have to say anything he don't need help getting buried he does a good
enough job on his own
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Staying on Trent for a second, because you were once/or are
considered to be a part of his inner-circle... do you think he has a drug problem? He claimed on Reil's hotline that he did
not but that everyone gets high before they wrestle, do you believe that? Do you think he needs help? Or are these
accusations of his declining health/condition blown out of proportion? Do you think Trent has what it takes to be in the WWE?
Devon Moore: trents Trent ill leave it at that he has helped me out a lot his biz is his biz
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What has been your proudest accomplishment, thus far in
wrestling?
Devon Moore: wrestling on the first ever dragonmainia show in Mexico city Mexico, getting a chance to
work with a guy like too cold Scorpio as much as I did. being a 2 time pwu champion
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: As many know, you have recently developed a pretty strong
relationship with Ian Rotten and IWA Mid South. Since going to work for IWA, you have had the opportunity to work with a
wider array of talent, and also gotten to work with more of the "upper-echelon" indy level stars. What are your thoughts on
Ian, and IWA?
Devon Moore: ians the best.ive been working for iwa since February and iv had a blast.ian is another
person I learned so much from not just working with him but being around him he is the reason I'm more of a hybrid style now
then just some skinny kid that did flips a couple years back. iwa runs great shows and I thank ian for letting me be a part
of them
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Also recently, you have dove head-first into the world of the
Death match. You appeared on the Kings of Extreme DVD with JC Bailey, and also participated in the 2007 Double Death Match
Tag Team Tournament with your partner Joker. Have you always had this "violent streak" in you, and what prompted you to start
doing these kind of matches at this point in your career? Do you see yourself continuing with the Death match style in the
future?
Devon Moore: yeah I don't mind getting silly but kings of extreme was a scaffold match with myself and
jc I wouldn't call that a death match I did the same match at pwu but the scaffold wasn't as tall. I started out in this biz
with joker and sabain and drew. so ian asked me if id team with joker for the double death and I said yeah.dont see any in
the near future id rather wrestle
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have experienced a lot of success as both a singles, and a
tag team wrestler. Do you prefer to work one style over the other?
Devon Moore: I love singles but tagging with drew is the best I don't mind tagging if its with drew
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Back to CZW... your debut had been talked about and requested
for a long time, with some fans even throwing black and yellow streamers in the ring during your matches at PWU... how did
the deal get done, and what do you think of CZW bankroll and promoter Maven Bentley? And also, Do you have any relationship
with John Zandig, the owner of CZW?
Devon Moore: I went down to see some people I haven't seen in a while Danny mickie and some other I
didn't have gear they asked me to work I said call tod tod ok it I'm that was that maven is cool zandig doesn't bother me
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Let's talk about Demanto again for a minute... everyone's used
to "Fat Danny" the overweight and overeating ticket seller, but recently... he's dropped a ton of weight and seems to be
trying to avoid a heart attack by the age of 30. Do you think he's on performance enhancing drugs? Did he have gastric bypass
surgery? Does he not love food "like a sister" anymore? What's the deal?
Devon Moore: I think Danny's trying to prove something and I think he is doing it he is better in the
ring he looks better and I guess he found something else to love like a sister.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Ok back to PWU... you're currently embroiled in a hot feud with
Eddie Kingston which has breathed some fresh life into PWU... what do you think about King, and you are excited to be working
with someone of his caliber in your home fed?
Devon Moore: I have mad respect for eddie but pwu is mine and he thinks he is going to take it from me
he is in for one hell of a fight I built pwu he isn't coming in my house and taking what I built you'll see first hand next
time we get in the ring.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Back to controversy for a minute: very recently, Danny Demanto
was involved in a situation with Niles Young, and his valet Noel Harlow. After Niles was fired/quit (depending on who you
believe) by CZW in December, Danny was presumably asked to fire him in the ring during the January show. Afterwards, a
scuffle allegedly took place in the back between Niles and Danny, which was separated by Zandig himself who reportedly threw
Niles out of the building. Later, Niles wrote a blog in which he claimed Danny was unprofessional, while also complaining
that wrestling "hurts". What are your thoughts on this whole situation (if any)? What do you think of Niles Young and his
valet Noel?
Devon Moore: don't know the whole story but I'm cool with both noel and Niles so its whatever
