Dan Barry

What up everyone and welcome to another McInterview. Today I had the privilege of re-interviewing Everyone’s Favorite Wrestler and mine, Dan Barry. Dan Barry has had a strong year since our last interview. He picked up the NYWC Cruiserweight Title again, and also added the prestigious SSCW Cruiserweight title to his mantle. He also started off and maybe had the best showing in what is considered one of the best matches in Long Island Wrestling history, The Pyscho Circus. Come enjoy this interview as Dan Barry discusses his career, NYWC, his big head and more. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Hey Daniel, it's been a long time since we sat down and conducted an interview, so welcome back, and thanks for rejoining us. First off, how is life in the world of Dan Barry?
Dan Barry: It's pretty crazy. A lot of school, lot of work, regular work and wrestling going on. Not a lot of Dan Barry time.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Since our last interview, NYWC has skyrocketed as not just one of the premier training facilities, but as a legit, respected promotion. Being one of the veterans, how do you feel about NYWC's recent success and where do you see the promotion heading?
Dan Barry: I can only see things going up, there are a lot of surprises coming up and fans won't know what to expect at NYWC. I helped plant the seeds and now it's growing very fast.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Why is your head so big?
Dan Barry: There is actually a medical reason for this. When I was younger, I had a disease called communicative something or other disorder in which there is a tube that brings spinal fluid to the brain. Mine is something like 3 times the size of most peoples. And it used to cause seizures. Im better now tho, just with an abnormally large melon.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: In the last interview we did, about a year ago, you said that your match with Johnny Ova, the second meeting between you two in an NYWC ring, was your favorite of all time. Does that match still hold up, or do you have a new favorite?
Dan Barry: Upon further investigation, I like the 1st match between me and him better, less bumps. Another Favorite of mine now is Me vs Reefer 1 and the TLC match I had with the 2 of them. Can't forget psycho circus.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have wrestled in USA Pro on various occassions, but never had a regular spot. Being NYWC bred, do you consider USA Pro the competition? What are your feelings on USA Pro and Frank Goodman? What promotion do you think is the number 1 fed in NY?
Dan Barry: I do not consider USAPro competition because we draw different fans. We are slightly more family oriented. I happen to like Frank Goodman, and I am a masked maniac mark. I love working for USAPro, but when I do, I feel like I'm lost in the fray so to speak, being as there is so much talent over there. But I do get to share a lockerroom with some of the best. I think that NYWC is #1 on Long Island, and USAPro is #1 In the boroughs. The only reason I say that is because at their Bethpage show, it was supposedly a "dead" crowd, and our crowds are never dead.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have collected a few cruiserweight championships. Do you think you're typecast into that spot? Do you think you can do more than just cruiserweight matches?
Dan Barry: I am a cruiserweight. It's not so much type cast, I like it here, no one would wanna see me as a World Champ. I think I've proven I can do the TLC, CAGE, BARBED WIRE, I wanna work a very technical match soon.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on the whole RF Fiasco?
Dan Barry: Fuck Him. I hope a Gorilla Rapes him.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Being from Mepham, Long Island, can you go into detail what it's like living in a town of sodomy?
Dan Barry: Well the whole town meets every Thursday for broomsticks and pinecones night at the armory.... NO wait you fuck! We arent sodomizers!
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is the most disgusting story that has happened to you in the ring?
Dan Barry: Having my tooth knocked into my lip. And one time some guy took a shit and not in the bathroom.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How hard is it having a job, going to school, and being a weekend warrior?
Dan Barry: This is my gift this is my curse. With great power comes great responsibilty. Sorry I blacked out. What was the question?
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Can you explain "The Zig Zag" Bar in Belleville, NJ? Can you tell us some funny stories that happened there concerning a one Carmine Sabia Jr.?
Dan Barry: The Bartender Rips Carmine apart. It's a pretty funny thing. The food is ok, but it's all about the atmosphere and the Carmine stories. I think he's the fake poster.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who is the funniest motherfucker in wrestling and why?
Dan Barry: Marty Janetty - the man is fucking insane.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What's the deal with Brimstone? You wrote a column about him in the past. For the people playing along at home, can you tell us what is up with this dude?
Dan Barry: He's a waste of life. If I had a gun with 1 bullet and Rob Feinstein and Brimstone were in a room, I'd shoot Feinstein and beat Brimstone to death with the gun so that he suffers more.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You worked for JCW and participated in the 2003 J-CUP. What was that like? How was it working for JCW?
Dan Barry: The J-cup was an experience. I was so excited, but I worked it with a Broken ankle, I think I wouldve won if it weren't for the bum ankle. I liked working for JCW but I left with a sour taste in my mouth. Well I didn't so much leave as never got booked again, but I still feel like I was kind of shit on.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Alot of NYWC guys, including yourself, Tyler Payne, and others have been working in other indy promotions and branching out. What do you think the NYWC's role on wrestling is today? Is it fair to call it the OVW of the North East?
