Dave Levy

What up boys and girls and welcome to a special McInterview. Today I interviewed Dave Levy, booker of CyberSpaceWrestlingFederation. Dave did an interview with us 2 months ago, talking about his career, which can be read here: Dave Levy Interview
The reason why we're doing another interview with Dave Levy is because CSWF has recently been given the shaft from the WWE, due to a misinformed report on another website.
Dave Levy talks about the upcoming CSWF show this coming Saturday, and discusses being thrown into the WWE/TNA war, as well as Roddy Piper. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: When did you find out you had to change your main event of Al Snow vs CSWF Champion, Ron Killings?

Dave Levy of CSWF: I found out at 11:15 this past Thursday night, less than 2 days after the first article was written.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What were the circumstances in regards to changing the match?

Dave Levy of CSWF: The EXACT story goes as follows: A female worker in the WWE offices was reading the usual wrestling sites on the internet. She comes across PWInsider (although the name was never mentioned) and they see a certain column. They see the headline "Rare WWE vs TNA:TNA bout signed", for proof here is the link: http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=1867&p=1 . They automatically assume we, The CSWF, were advertising this as a WWE vs TNA Interpromotional match, which we aren't and weren't. If anyone has seen our flyers, website, and commercials, not anywhere does it advertise an Interpromotional match.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What were your feelings when your realized the talent that you paid for, and the match that you're paying for, had to be changed?

Dave Levy of CSWF: I was pissed from the start. This was a match many were looking forward to because of the unique situation. Even Al Snow was looking forward to wrestling Ron. Obviously no one wants to make card changes, especially around their main event. Other matches had to be changed for the WWE, to appease the so called "higher power". I automatically knew we were paying for a problem we never started.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How did the WWE approach you about this?

Dave Levy of CSWF: Al Snow's agent called us this past Thursday night and said we had to change the match. Al could work anyone else on the card, including Crowbar and Julio Dinero, just not Ron Killings. They even wanted us to pull down all flyers advertising the match. Now the WWE may have enough money to change their advertising with one phone call, but it is not that easy on the indy's. Every flyer (unless a store owner pulled them down by now) and commercial is right where we left them and will run the exact times and dates. They are accepting the alternative we have planned.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Anthony Diblasi wrote a good column explaining that CSWF never promoted a WWE vs TNA match. As a fan of CSWF and a journalist, I can stand behind what Mr. Diblasi wrote when he says that CSWF never promoted this as an interpromotional match. How did this become a WWE vs TNA match from just a regular CSWF Title match?

Dave Levy of CSWF: Now I have never met or spoken with Anthony. I believe this was the first show I e mailed him out as well. But he reported the TRUTH and I respect a man for doing so. It became that kind of match when a certain column on a certain site labeled it that.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Since CSWF is all about cyberspace and the internet, do you think wrestling websites that reported this falsely as an interpromotional match is sort of ironic, because you're supposed to be all about the internet and such?

Dave Levy of CSWF: I don't think the name means a thing, especially with the writer in question. Other sites even quoted and printed what he wrote. HE seems to have no trouble reporting for other indies that have been around longer and get more attention.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who do you soley blame for this situation getting out of hand?

Dave Levy of CSWF: I blame Mike Johnson for the troubles. He was the one that titled his artical and labeled the match as interpromotional. If he reads other columns on his own website, he could see under Jess McGrath's indy show schedule that it no where says "Interpromotional". I send out all internet press releases and on NONE of them has "Interpromotional" on it. If we are not advertising it as such, then Mr. Johnson should not take the creative liberties he did. Now I originally sent Mr. Johnson the press release to hype up Roddy Piper, I mean after all, it's Roddy Piper. This was my first ever e mail to Mike Johnson plugging any CSWF event. He said he would put it right up and mentioned ad rates to me. Sure, give him the money we lost on this show from those expecting to see Snow vs Killings. After I saw how he titled it, I was thinking that was ok. But then after some talk with others, people thought it would backfire;which it did. I have yet to receive an e mail rom him apologizing for the situation. There has not even been a mention of it from him since he posted his column. Here is a person I have never met before and already, I have no respect for him.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who was the first to report this as an interpromotional match instead of a CSWF title match? What are your feelings on this person and what would you like this person to do?

Dave Levy of CSWF: If you read above, it was Mike Johnson who said it was an interpromotional match. My feelings, here is a person that falsely advertised a match. Even after all the troubles we had, he can not realize it was him. Not one mention of it has been made from MIke and I think he doesn't feel the need to respond or mention it. Not only would l like a public apology, but I would like him to contact the WWE so they know it was not us, but him. Do I think that will happen, of course not. I will say this though, PWInsider no longer has my support because of this situation. MIke Johnson may not have known who we were before, but I am sure he will now. I have only seen Mike Johnson fully report on indies that receive greater national attention. If he paid attention to the smaller groups out there, then maybe things like this would not happen.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: On a better note, Hot Rod, Rowdy Roddy Piper will be at CSWF to do a live Piper's Pit this upcoming Saturday. What can we expect?

Dave Levy of CSWF: This is Roddy Piper we are talking about. Even WE do not know what to expect.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Is Piper joining CSWF a direct response to JAPW having Vader the same day, as well as JCW having Kamala and Bam Bam Bigelow?

Dave Levy of CSWF: Not at all. We had been in talks for quite some time, we just didn't want to announce anything until it is final. Not good to advertise people who are not finalized for a show.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: CSWF has stiff competition on April 24, with ROH, JAPW and JCW all running in the area. Why should a fan go to CSWF over the other shows?

Dave Levy of CSWF: Hard question to answer. Obviously if you want to see ROH, you will have to be in MIN-A-SODA!!!! Sorry, Jesse Vnntura took over for a second. All I can say is you will have fun. I am sure many will go to JAPW for Vader and Maff/Awesome and others to JCW for Kamala. Every show is a surprise and can always expect the unexpected. Not only can you see Roddy Piper, but great talent like AL Snow, ROn Killings, Michael Shane, Grim Reefer, The SOlution, Prince Nana & Dan Barry, Tyler Payne, Striker, SWB and April, and other great wrestling talent. We are a group on the rise.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: For anyone who misses the CSWF show featuring Roddy Piper, where can fans get the tape/dvd of the show and when will it be available?

Dave Levy of CSWF: You can go to our website at www.CSWFol.com and kep checking back for the DVD availability. We will also be relaunching our website somtime very soon so keep checking back. The new website will blow our own one away.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you want to say to anyone reading this?

Dave Levy of CSWF: I am sure everyone questions what they read on the internet, and they should. People have a tendency to write their opinions when they should be writing fact. Words are very powerful when used correctly, in Mike Johnsons case, they were powerful enough to have a match cancelled. If everyone chose the write words when they spoke or wrote, a lot of troubles would never happen. April 24th for be a very intresting day for the CSWF. I hope many of you come out to see a great night of wrestling action. If you have not sen a CSWF event, then maybe you should and make an opinion about us for yourself. Never take someone elses opinion before you experience it for yourself. As usual, if anyone has any questions or comments about anything I have said, I am easy to reach at CSWFinfo@aol.com. Talk to me directly and get the facts, don't read about it in a column or a message board.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Thank you for your time and good luck this Saturday.
