Corvis Fear

Whats up DOI-ites, and welcome to another McInterview with none other than Corvis Fear. Corvis Fear is a rising indy wrestler, and has been looking good in IHPW and JAPW. Corvis was also known as Roach, but since the name change his career has jumped a level, and has been more noticeable at shows. Corvis is great on the mic, as he is in the ring, and I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
Sean The MiC McCaffrey: How did you get your start in pro wrestling, and what was your training like?
Corvis Fear: Well I had been a fan of wrestling my whole life, life every other worker, but I never thought I could ever make it as a wrestler myself. One day about 2 and a half years ago, I attended a JAPW show, and they announced that they were opening a wrestling school. I attended the school and the rest is history. The training itself, let's just put it this way, out of 40 or so students that started, only 3 graduated.
The MiC: Why did you change your gimmick from Roach to Corvis Fear?
Corvis Fear: Well, backstage, everyone I'm friends with still call me Roach, that will forever be my name, but when it comes to the ring I needed a name and a gimmick that people could take more seriously, thus giving birth to Corvis Fear
The MiC: Who were your favorite wrestlers growing up? Least favorite?
Corvis Fear: This is the hardest question for me to answer, because any wrestler that can go out and be entertaining and put on a good match is my favorite wrestler at the time. I respect anyone in this business that can entertain a crowd. I don't have a least favorite wrestler.
The MiC: What are your favorite promotions to work for? Least favorite?
Corvis Fear: My favorite promotion to work for is my home company JAPW of course, they gave me my start, and they will always have my loyalty. I also don't have a least favorite promotion, if a promotion is nice enough to give me an opportunity to wrestle for them; they're ok in my book.
The MiC: How many times have you seen your name spelt as Corbis Fear? (Even by myself lol) Can you set the record straight, and do you think announcers need to speak more clearly?
Corvis Fear: Well, when I first changed my name from Roach to Corvis, that's when I seen it spelt incorrectly the most. Fat Frank wasn't sure what the name was, and he did his best to remember. I don't hold it against him. When people saw it spelt as Corbis, they naturally spelt it the same way. It's all-good now though, people know the spelling and people know who I am.
The MiC: What do you think has been your best match so far?
Corvis Fear: My best matches so far in my career involve Tony Lazaro. This is because we started training together and have this chemistry that just brings out the best in one another. Also my feud with Justin Cage in the Garfield based promotion BWO has given forth to some awesome matches.
The MiC: Do you have any superstitions before a match?
Corvis Fear: I only have one silly superstition; I've worn the same socks since my first match. I wash them and everything, but I make sure to always wear them.
The MiC: You are very over as a heel in JAPW and IHPW. What goes into being a great heel, and who do you credit for your great mic work?
Corvis Fear: Being a great Heel is getting under the fans skin. Getting them involved verbally as much as possible, because if a fan feels like a part of the match, they're going to enjoy it that much more. I credit my mic work to 3 things: 1.) Mafia of Da Hit Squad sitting with me for hours in the JAPW school helping me with character development, 2.) Kevin Kelly thought me how to amplify who I am and the direct it outward, and 3.) Hours of practicing promos in my free time.
The MiC: Who are your favorite wrestlers to work with? And what's up with you and Eddie Thomas? One day you're teaming with him against your will, and the next you guys are tag partners.
Corvis Fear: My favorite wrestlers to work against are Tony Lazaro, Eddie Thomas, and Justin Cage. And the Eddie Thomas thing, yeah we've wrestled each other quite a few times, but when I arrived at IHPW, he was in a particularly bad mood, and him knowing how I hate just about everyone, asked me to help him takeout the Nelson Brothers. Will this tandem last? I don't know, but if it doesn't, he'll definitely have to watch his back.
The MiC: What's your favorite thing about being in the wrestling business? The worst?
Corvis Fear: My favorite thing is to be able to do what I Love in front of people, and for them to actually enjoy watching it. The worst would definitely have to be the politics that go into being a wrestler.
The MiC: What do you prefer more, singles or tag team matches? Why?
Corvis Fear: Singles without a doubt. The less people involved in a match, the less people you have to depend on to get the job done the right way.
