Carmine Sabia

Again, Carmine Sabia has decided to run his mouth about numerous subjects in chatrooms and message boards, which brings us to the fourth Carmine interview on this website. Carmine answered every question asked of him, despite not getting into every detail. This was a take no prisoners interview and I thank Carmine for not dodging or omitting any questions. Carmine talks about the recent turmoil in SSCW , USA PW, JCW, and much more. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Carmine, we (meaning the DOI) have given you a forum time and time again to dispute and talk about whatever you wanted. Recently you have told others such as Dana Dameson not to do interviews with the DOI. After everything the DOI has done for SSCW, why would you tell people not to do interviews with us, despite you doing your third right now?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I haven't told "others" I suggested to Dana that she refrain from giving interviews for a few reasons. First being Dana has been in the business for a few months. In that few months she has given more interviews then a Survivor contestant the week after they have been kicked off. Don't ya hate that? The week after they get booted off the show they're everywhere. It's quite annoying. Anyway how much could she possibly have to see? The other, and much more important reason, is that I don't think Dana has learned etiquette in terms of public relations. Everyone keeps telling her how great she is. That's fantastic. But she has to realize that she knows, in fact, very little and that there are people with agendas of their own that will exploit her for their own personal gain. In any event I have stopped babysitting her. She will sink or swim on her own. It's time anyway.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: November 7, 2003, SSCW saw its largest crowd with a standing room only 327 people. 2 shows later, on March 27th, 2004, the attendance was only 80 at best. Why do you think the attendance figures dropped so drastically?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Well we are starting over. New front office staff, some new wrestlers. It's going to take the fans a while to get into the new product. As you know when you (Mic) were aboard we had more of an internet niche. We are at a changing direction point right now where we are going to see what works. I am leaving most, if not all, of the storyline decisions to Simon Diamond. he will decide in which direction to take the company. I look forward to larger crowds in the months to come.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have recently picked a fight with Frank Goodman. Despite Frank Goodman hooking you up with talent such as D-Lo Brown and Bam Bam Bigelow, and even getting Simon Diamond on board, why have you chosen to fight with Frank?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Excellent question. Let's clear a few things up because up until this interview only one side of the story has been heard. How did I pick a fight with Frank Goodman? Did I go on my hotline and talk shit about Frank Goodman? Did I release a public statement bashing him? Again NO. I picked no fight nor do I have heat with Goodman. Plain and simple I did book Kamala through him and then notified him a few days later that our building just raised the rent and we were unsure of our ability to book him. He gave me a few days but when the time came SSCW did not have it's financial planning done and I did not have an answer for him. He needed an answer right then at that moment which I fully understand. I told him if he couldn't wait til Friday (this was Tuesday I believe) then the answer would have to be no. Because of this Frank chooses to be angry and that is his prerogative.

I would also like to state that Frank Goodman never once recommended Simon Diamond to me. That is a 100% lie. I remember this because I know who the 2 people that recommended Simon to me were and these are two of my workers that had the pleasure of working with Simon before.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is it your business if Dana Dameson does a different character outside of SSCW? How come you didn't flip out at JAPW when she was announced as Jailbait, which can be considered sexually offensive if you're a prude?

Carmine Sabia Junior: JAPW isn't making a moron out of her.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You and Dana have said time and time again, that you are friends and care about here well-being. Do you think that can be looked at as that you want to get with her? Also, if you care so much about her career, and not wanting her to do certain angles in different promotions, why do you have her flaunting on your site less than 1/2 naked? If you were truly looking out for her, wouldn't you want her properly dressed?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I think if I call her on the phone even once it can be looked at as me wanting to get with her in this business. Dana is a friend and I do care alot about her. At the same time this is the character DANA wants to push. I like to give the talent as much influence on their own character development as possible with obvious restrictions.

As far as the pictures on the site we have been using more clothed pictures but Dana has wanted me to use this pic for a while. We may change it after the 15th when we get some new shots but like I said it's her character not mine.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your feelings on the Masked Maniac hotline?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Very funny. I enjoy it when I am mentioned on it. I like it when I'm not mentioned on it but obviously I prefer to hear that rascally maniac get his digs in on me. It's very funny. Everyone should listen to it.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: If Frank Goodman drove to your house TODAY, and knocked on the door, what would you tell him?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I'd probably say "Hi".

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Why do you act as if you're one of the most powerful men in the business, when you have never stepped foot in a wrestling ring, arena, or even a locker room in this century?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Once again I feel compelled to correct you. I have wrestled (poorly) on dark shows in NJ when I was 16. That's actually how I got into the business. I am powerful in SSCW. That's the only place I need to be powerful in.
McNote: Carmine Sabia Jr. has never stepped in a ring this century. (2000 and on) At 16, the last time he was in a ring was 1994. I felt compelled to correct him on the years.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How come you promote wrestlers who are only 15 years old? Do you think that takes away the mystique of wrestlers being special, when any 15 year old kid wearing a Rey Misterio replica mask is in the ring?

Carmine Sabia Junior: We are trying to cut back on anyone small barring those that will not be deemed "lightweight" and we even want them to be built. That said there are certain people who contribute to the company unselfishly time and time again (and I'm not talking ticket sales). You show loyalty to those people.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Do you still consider yourself "the George Steinbrenner of indy wrestling?"

Carmine Sabia Junior: Thank you Mic for giving me an opportunity to explain this statement. For those of you who know Yankee baseball (Mr. Zevon for instance) George Steinbrenner is always getting involved in the personnel and front office decisions. he gets in on which players to get and so forth. This is generally left to the General manager but in Yankeeland George always has his say. Well traditionally there are certain things in wrestling that the booker does. I tend to get involved in those things and that is where the Steinbrenner comment came from.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Do you think by canceling more shows than you have run, having dismal attendance figures more times than not, and not leaving your house is why SSCW is considered a joke among wrestlers, fans, and critics?

Carmine Sabia Junior: SSCW has been running since 1998. We've cancelled 3 shows. We've run dozens. I'd love to see the "documented proof" that the other dude that did an interview on here claims to have. Just because someone says "documented fact" doesn't mean it is, in fact, documented nor a fact. As far as me leaving the house I don't think it has as much of an effect when there is a respectable presence in the locker room running things.
McNote: There were more than 3 shows cancelled in SSCW's history. Some dates that have been cancelled have been 1/17/03, 6/27/03, as well as a few in the late '90s, which have been confirmed by numerous wrestlers and promoters.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Ricky O has challenged you to a fight where the winner would donate 5000 dollars to charity. What is your official stance on that?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Ridiculous.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is up with you and Ricky O? How come you always say "I have bbq's that outdraw JCW", when SSCW's attendance hasn't been that hot either and in recent times has been 1/4 less than JCW's?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I have never once given away a ticket to one of my barbeques.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you think about Ricky O? Would you ever do business with him? Would you fake post about him?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I have fake posted about him. Not as much as he thinks but I have. I don't anymore and that's a "documented fact" lol. What do I think of him? I try not to think of him at all. Would I ever do business with him? Eric Bischoff works for WWE. Never say never.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Simon Diamond is now part of SSCW. What is it like having Simon Diamond there?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I have learned tons. It's great having Simon here. He's pretty fun to hang around with. He has and continues to have a positive influence on the wrestlers which is good. I couldn't have asked for anyone better then him to help out SSCW. With him here I see us growing by leaps and bounds.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How come you threaten workers and other people by using Simons name? For example why do tell wrestlers that Simon will not like that and might fire you, when you are the boss?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Never say he might fire them. I do tell them when I don't think he will like something. While I am the boss Simon deals with the talent. I am alot more lenient I think. So certain things that I might laugh at he may not. he might not tell you it upset him but he will let me know.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who really wears the pants in SSCW, Simon or yourself?

Carmine Sabia Junior: We bought really big pants and we share them. When push comes to shove I am in charge but I honestly never second guess Simon. How can I? He is probably, no not probably DEFINITELY, the smartest person I have ever met in this business.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have gained a reputation for shorting people public. Is Jac Sabboth your idol?

Carmine Sabia Junior: If I stiff someone and they don't tell me their envelope was short how exactly can I correct it? There are certain people who accidentally got shorted. Many of whom were mentioned on the message boards. They came to me and told me the deal and they got paid. No complaints. And yes I have a Jac poster on my bedroom wall lol.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: For the people you have shorted how can they rectify these problems?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Just gotta give me a call and tell me what happened. If I believe the person, and usually I have no reason to doubt them, they get the rest of their payday. It doesn't happen often but when it does it needs to be handled. I don't want my workers thinking if they ask for what is rightfully theirs that I will get mad. I am human and I make mistakes. if you didn't get all your pay then tell me so I can give you what is yours.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Josh Deely vs The Honky Tonk Man? Can you please admit how stupid that idea is right here in this interview?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I've had better.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Do you feel that SSCW has "marked out" for big names in the past? SSCW has had a tremendously hard time making a profit off of big names such as Scott Steiner, Jimmy Snuka, Honky Tonk Man, Sandman and others. Do you feel that SSCW needs to let go of the big names and let the indy talent bring the fans back?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Names have their place. I wouldn't say I mark out for them I just have been a believer in their ability to draw. JAPW could probably draw using boy scouts but they continue to bring in names. The trick is knowing when, how and who. Simon will make those decisions from now on as long as the who fits with the budget of course LOL.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Noel has returned to SSCW, and to wrestling after a 4 month absence. What led to her return? How come she returned to SSCW?

Carmine Sabia Junior: We talked alot and mapped out some stuff we thought would be good for her. She came back to SSCW because if you are going to return you return to your home fed first. I have read alot of negative things about Noel recently but let me say this, and I know her better then most other people in the business. She has always been a true professional with me and she is absolutely not a rat but rather one of the classiest girls in this business. Some people just say asinine things because they can't make themselves look good so they berate others to feel better about themselves.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is the whole deal on the Kevin Matthews pissing on the SSCW TV Title situation? Do you think it's wrong to reward him with a main event title spot on your next show, considering he urinated on your championship and made fun of your mother? Do you think that people should follow his example for a big spot on the show?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Yes everyone needs to start pissing right now. Some things happened and Kevin and myself both had apologies to make. I wouldn't recommend someone else doing it.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: According to SSCW Logic, from the question above, if Danny Demanto makes diarrhea on a SSCW T-Shirt, will he be given a huge main event push in SSCW?

Carmine Sabia Junior: That's an ugly thought lol. No the situation with myself and Kevin is complex. It wouldn't happen in the future but Kevin has always been a company guy.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Will you ever leave your house? I understand that it is a medical condition, but don't you think a promoter needs to leave his house to flyer, set up sponsorships, and oversee the show in person? SSCW has had a horrible track record of promoting live shows locally, would you attribute your condition as part of this problem?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Hopefully man. Ya know it is a serious condition not a little thing or I would be there. I hope that I am able to make it to a show VERY soon. I do attribute part of it to that but I am putting a good team in place now to correct it.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Can Simon solve this problem?

Carmine Sabia Junior: He has already begun.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: SSCW has seen some good and bad in recent months. The Tradition Cup was installed and saw Tyler Payne win a good tournament. Like wise, we had to see Vicious Vin wrestle. SSCW has had no direction and has seem hodge-podge. What can be done to change that?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Simon Diamond.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Do you think that SSCW has been more about having my family and friends on the show, such as Frankie Hawke, Vicious Vin, Little Romeo Misterio, rather then giving the fans what they want such as Sonjay Dutt v. Jay Lethal, Rob Eckos vs Damian Adams feud?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Take a look at many other feds. Friends and family get pushed. With all due respect to Grecco and 3SH you don't see them in many other places besides JCW, which is a shame because they are great talents. But people do tend to give friends a chance especially when those friends contribute to the company in other ways.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How much money can SSCW lose before it's time to give it up?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Zillions lol.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Why should a fan come to SSCW?

Carmine Sabia Junior: To see a growing roster of big stars and great indy talent. To have a chance to be in on the ground floor of a company that is going to grow tremendously over the next 12 months. To have fun and not be 100 feet away like the big fed. Because I said so or I'll trade you. oh wait, Steinbrenner moment. Carry on.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What can we expect from the new SSCW?

Carmine Sabia Junior: A first class roster and some of the most exciting matches you can see at an indy show. Just give it some time. We can't grow overnight. Look at Cyberspace. I greatly respect how those guys stuck with it and, even though Firehawk said otherwise, I consider them a top fed in this area.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Are you really Fecal Threats?

Carmine Sabia Junior: The search goes on. I am not fecal threats but I am a fan.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is going on between you and Shawn Sheridan? Why did you make a bet with him and take it back? Why have you laughed and jested about putting a hit on him on several of your shows?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I took the bet as a joke and he did not. I never put a "hit" on him but he claims that someone told him I said it so I tease him about it when I get the chance.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: If you had to say something to Shawn Sheridan, what would it be?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Shawn don't run to fast cuz the fat man has ya on a short leash. You are a good kid and I have no heat with you. I just hope you don't believe your own crap.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: SSCW returns May 15, 2004. Why should any fan go to this over ROH?

Carmine Sabia Junior: We're closer. Plain and simple. No smark will pick us over ROH yet so it would be ridiculous for me to list reasons to go to SSCW over ROH except we're closer lol.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Can Al Snow really save SSCW, considering he's been in almost every promotion in a 100 mile radius of SSCW?

Carmine Sabia Junior: Al Snow is being brought in to wrestle not save anything. Simon and I will do our best to remodel SSCW, I don't think we need to be saved exactly just fixed.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Carmine I want to thank you for answering these tough questions and manning up. Here is your spot to say anything you want to the thousands that will read this interview. What would you like to say?

Carmine Sabia Junior: I want to tell all the other people who have come on here and done "shoot" interviews and made asses out of themselves to chill and stop taking themselves so seriously. More importantly for those of you not traveling to other shows on May 15 come see Al Snow, Justin Credible, Simon Diamond, Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz, Noel, Damien Dragon & Foxxy, J*Busta, Devin Sturgis, Alicia, Miss Kara and many more at 282 Parker Avenue in Clifton, NJ at 8PM. 7 PM we will have a meet & greet fan fest with all the stars and all fans are welcome. Expect the unexpected.

Here's a quote that applies to many. "Some people speak because they have something to say. Some people speak because they just have to say something.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Thanks for this interview and talking openly. I hope everyone fake posts about this lol.
