The Blue Meanie

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have had a long career that included runs in the WWF and ECW. Now you are a main player in 3PW. What's been going on in your life, and how have you been?

The Blue Meanie: My life right now is 3PW. That’s the only thing I am really concerned with. The state of the business as a whole isn’t good and watching WWE tv is down right depressing. The only thing I look forward to in the business now is watching the young guys stepping up to the bat.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You are slated to be in two upcoming movies. How did you get those roles, and when will these movies be released?

The Blue Meanie: Actually I filmed them movies already. The first one is a comedy called “Communication Breakdown” (www.lostcolonyentertainment.com) and it wrapped in March. It is 80% done as far as editing goes. I got that part along with Jasmin from talking to writer Dan Lashley and director Richard O’Sullivan for well over a year just as friends. Then the idea of my part in the movie “Jake” fitting me from what they had seen of me in the Meanie role. The second movie is the total opposite. It’s a old school horror/zombie film called “Swamp Zombies”. I had talk to the writer/director Len Kabasinski for a while and he came out to a 3PW event and we agreed to work together. We have one more pick up scene to shoot in a couple weeks.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Since the demise of ECW, you have pretty much worked exclusively for 3PW with some off and on shots elsewhere. Do you still like to wrestle, or do you prefer being a member of 3PW's office?

The Blue Meanie: I like to wrestle but my main focus is 3PW doing my all to go forward. I still do shots here and there. The indies as a whole are down and it’s become hard to rely on other promoters to keep their dates. After ECW went out of business I was getting bookings but some promoters got to the point where they were canceling shows. The indies really rely on the WWE’s success for the business as a whole to do well too. When the boom period in 1998 was happening I was doing indies on the side and they were drawing over 1,000 fans on shows in the middle of no where and it was mind blowing. But as the WWE products grows stale then the casual fans hibernate.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have had many good moments in wrestling. What are your favorite moments as a wrestler, and what are your favorite 3PW moments?

The Blue Meanie: As a wrestler and in no particular order:

Being in Wrestlemania 15
The bWo
Being in of part of ECW

In 3PW from behind the scenes aspect:
Our 1st anniversary show
Our Feb. 2004 show with Sabu Vs. Al Snow and the bwo reunion.
The build up of Joey Matthews
And the excitement I get before each new event we run.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: During your career, you have parodied many people, with your work in the bWo, from your work in WWF. Do you think that typecasted you as a comedy wrestler for your career?

The Blue Meanie: Yea, but it’s not a bad thing. We all get dealt our card in the business and mine was my strength to entertain people with humor. Humor got me through a tough childhood, humor got me noticed for ECW, humor made some of my most memorable moments and I had and still am having a blast. A lot of guys want to be the bad ass and wrestling is probably the ONLY way some people in the biz can be bad asses. Trust me, if wrestling was 100% a lot of people would drop out. So I am having no regrets.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: While on the WWF, what was it like getting let go, only to have fans rally behind you, and get you hired back?

The Blue Meanie: It was over whelming. I got the call from JR I was back and at TV the following week Russo told me the email system at the WWF was inundated from the mass of emails they got.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: When you were let go, what did Goldust think? Was he upset about the angle being dropped as well?

The Blue Meanie: Goldust wasn’t happy toward the end of his stay anyway. When I was released we had lost contact anyway so I couldn’t tell you.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Being close with so many real women wrestlers and managers in the wrestling business, what are your thoughts on WWE's Diva Search, where they awarded contracts to 2 (Carmella and Christy) non wrestlers/managers?

The Blue Meanie: Here’s an idea for the WWE……………………………do something with the Diva’s you ALREADY have!! LOL. I dare them to bring Alexis Laree up and utilize and woman that can actually WORK!

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your opinions on the infamous Philly War that took place several years ago?

The Blue Meanie: It was ridiculous and hopefully it stays behind us all. The less stress the better.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Ex-ECW Wrestlers have talked negatively about you in recent times, such as Balls Mahoney and New Jack. Both have said that you have changed since hooking up with Jasmin St. Claire. Do you think you have changed your personality since meeting Jasmin? Why do you think your former friends are lashing out at you like this?

The Blue Meanie: It’s amazing how people handle the fact that that we don’t book them anymore. New Jack didn’t want to lose to Bam Bam plus the fact that he threatened Ian Rotten with physical violence the month before made him undesirable. Plus he STILL owes us money from a cash advance we gave him so he can pay his phone bill. It was an advance for the show he no showed us on. Some friend eh? He swears he couldn’t get on the flight out of Atlanta that day. Ron Jeremy who was on the same show made a connection through Atlanta, saw Jack in the airport and said Jack had every opportunity to the make the flight but chose not too.

Plus does anyone put any thought into what New Jack says anyway? Let’s see. New Jack works for SMW. He leaves SMW and then trashes SMW. New Jack works for ECW. ECW closes. New Jack then trashes ECW. New Jack works for XPW. New Jack leaves XPW. New Jack Then trashes XPW. New Jack works for EPIC. Leaves EPIC. Then trashes EPIC. Is anyone noticing a trend here?

As far as Balls Mahoney goes. We had him booked for our return to the ECW arena that was the same afternoon as ROH’s night show. As we reviewed the line up we saw we had 13 matches total and it was too much. Unfortunately, we had to cut some people off with one being Mahoney. We called Balls and got his machine. We call again and get his machine. Since he wasn’t picking up or returning our calls we left the message on his machine we had to cancel him. So what does Balls do? He shows up anyway and no sells that we cancelled him. He starts getting changed. I call Jas to make sure I wasn’t dreaming when we actually cancelled Mahoney off the show. I tell Balls that we had cancelled him and he was like “WHAT?!?!? NO YOU DIDN’T!” as if the Jedi mind tick would make me reconsider. I told him about our repeated attempts to call him and how we left the message he was cancelled.

Balls starts to get weird and says “Hey if you keep me on the show, I’ll work half price” Which to me that was the signal he knew he was working us. If would he offer to work half price if he thought he was in the right? Sounds desperate. So Balls lays the sympathy card “Come on? I thought we were friends?”. When he saw we weren’t budging from our positron he started losing his cool. His tone got louder and he and was like “You know I lost work taking your date?!?!” I asked how. He said………and get ready for this………….”I could have worked tonight for ROH! They were going to book me against MUTA!!!!!!”.

So Balls goes on his rant of how he’s going to blackball me, he’s going to call Dave Meltzer and back ball me, he’s going to the sheets and going to shoot on me, he’s going to the net and shoot me. The whole time I was wondering how he was going to blackball me from 3PW since this the only place I want to work anyway.

The Blue Meanie with Jasmin St Claire

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on Jasmin St. Claire? Why do you feel that she gets alot of heat and hate from people in the wrestling business?

The Blue Meanie: It’s plain and simple. She’s a woman in a male driven business. Guys can’t handle having a female boss. If Jasmin were what everyone claims she is, Tod and I would have left a LONG time ago.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on Billy Reil, and his claims that Jasmin St. Claire burnt down his house?

The Blue Meanie: It’s bullshit. Again it’s a case of someone who can handle that we don’t want to book him and a cheap way of Billy to get attention. Billy Reil is a punk who runs his mouth and will never learn. Years ago I used to be friends with Billy. We used to hang. But as time went on Billy would just run his mouth about stupid shit on some hotline he ran on a voicemail service. So I figured the best thing to do was to distance myself away from him if I was going to do ANYTHING in the business. I didn’t need his residual heat passed onto me.

I saw him years later on the Metalfest show in Pennsauken, NJ. He swore he was a different man and was more mature but it turnout to be a lie. That same night he made an ass out of himself to Jasmin as he did the time that we saw him at the MECW show and it was no surprise to me. When we started 3PW up he would constantly call Tod and Gary Wolf to try and get on the 3PW shows and we would constantly say no. Then when he stopped the robbery near his house and got some press he called us again. “Book me, I’m a hero”. *pffft*

Then when Gino Moore got our show in cancelled in Cherry Hill, Billy went on an anti-Gino tirade on the boards and sites and he was putting Jasmin over. All of this was in the hopes of getting booked but we STILL didn’t want to book him. Like a light switch he goes on a tirade against Jasmin and me. He was being a total cunt about it. A true professional would have said “ok” and known the difference between professional and personal.

We didn’t want to book him because there’s nothing special to him. If I saw him walking down the street I wouldn’t know he was a wrestler. He looks like any schmo I can see hanging at the mall. Taking pictures of yourself wearing a suit you probably haven’t worn since high school prom and holding a replica belt that you bought out of a magazine doesn’t make you a wrestler. Neither does all the backyard wrestling tape he made with Angel that used to make me watch when we WERE friends. UGH.

But seriously, I don’t know whether to be flattered or scared by how obsessed he is with trying to get on our shows and by how much shit he’s talked about us. He’s still the same loud mouth who is the LAST thing on my mind. The only time I hear his name is when someone calls us to tell us what he says on different boards and mark lines. He was a mark then on a hotline talking shit when I first met him and 9 years later he is STILL a mark on a hotline talking shit. I guess some things never change (laughs)

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is it like working with mastermind Tod Gordon in 3PW? Do you feel he's one of the smartest bookers today?

The Blue Meanie: Tod has a great mind for the business and is a pleasure to work with. I mean the guy created ECW! LOL. I love Tod dearly in the most hetero of ways to love another man. He is

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on Simon Diamond and Dawn Marie? Would a Simon Diamond debut in 3PW be far off?

The Blue Meanie: Both are great-underutilized talents. I am surprised Simon hasn’t been picked up by the WWE. We liked to use him eventually. He’s an asset to anyone he works for.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: John Zandig at a recent CZW show addressed the rumors about CZW and 3PW getting kicked out of the ECW Arena/Viking Hall. What are your thoughts about these rumors? Do they have any weight, and why do you think they got started?

The Blue Meanie: I vaguely heard about this before but like most rumors I take them with a grain of salt.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Would 3PW ever do business with Rob Feinstein?

The Blue Meanie: If Rob can prove his case that he was set up, sure. When the deal went down I was furious. I am a very emotional person when it comes to the harming of kids, the elderly or and animal. So when I heard this I was beyond pissed. Even to the point of taking it out on friends I had who would do still do business with him. Rob’s been trying to get in contact with us and we told him how we feel. In one sense I know what it’s like to be the brunt of a rumor and lies, so I could see his point. On the other hand the he was “caught on tape”. For Rob’s sake I hope he is right. I’ve known him for 15 years. I always had the inkling he was gay but that never made me think less of him as a person. But I HOPE for his sake he proves his point.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on Ring of Honor and their office?

The Blue Meanie: They’re easy to deal with. We laugh about the whole “Philly War” bullshit now. As a matter of fact I just talked to Gabe about our dates so we can avoid sharing dates.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on NWA TNA and their office?

The Blue Meanie: They are easy to deal with also. We go through them to book Daniels, Styles and Sabin and they are as professional as I’d expect them to be.

The Blue Meanie at an ECW Show

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Do you ever see one last run with WWE?

The Blue Meanie: Never say never but I don’t see it soon.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts about Paul Heyman, and what do you think about him being part of the WWE office?

The Blue Meanie: Underutilized. Vince won’t give Paul E the ball to run with and it baffles a lot of people. As does the release of Dr. Tom.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How much do you miss ECW? Many believe that no other promotion will ever re-create that aura. Do you think it is possible for any promotion to capture the essence and fan passion like ECW did?

The Blue Meanie: ECW was what it was. It was the right place at the right time. And despite it being its motto, it REALLY was politically incorrect in a PC society. It was Sex and violence and I don’t know if anyone can touch it.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Jasmin St. Claire hinted that a new secondary title would be created soon. Is there anything you can tell us about this rumored title?

The Blue Meanie: There have been talks but we all agreed it would be good to go with tag titles. Down the line we may have a secondary singles title.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who do you see as the next WWE superstar to take WWE to the next level like a Hogan or Austin?

The Blue Meanie: As far as WWE I see Randy Orton picking it up. I had doubts at first but he is proving himself.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What indy wrestlers are you a fan of watching?

The Blue Meanie: I like watching Styles, Daniels, Ruckus, Scorpio Sky and the rest of our 3PW roster.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What indy guys do you think flat out suck and don't belong wrestling?

The Blue Meanie: Eh, the only people I think don’t belong in the business are the one who think everything should be handed to them. Some people also don’t have a sense of ethics. If we give you a date first and you agree to our date first then our date is the only one that counts. The same goes for any other promoter who gives a wrestler a date to wrestle.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: When The Blue Meanie/Blue Boy retires from the wrestling business, what do you want to be most remembered as?

The Blue Meanie: I want to be remembered as someone who beat the odds growing to achieve a dream. I am VERY fortunate to done what I have done and be where I am today.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Do you have any career goals left? If so, what are they?

The Blue Meanie: Just to make 3PW a fun promotion to watch along with Tod and Jasmin. I still wanna do more acting. I am talking to with someone about writing a buddy flick.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you want to say to anyone reading this?

The Blue Meanie: You can visit 3PWrestling.com for more info on upcoming events and our next DVD slated for release called “United We Stand, Divided We Brawl”.

My site is still up at TheBlueMeanie.com and you can also visit http://profiles.myspace.com/users/5003125 .

I will also be doing a column for metalsludge.tv in the coming weeks as well!

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Thanks for this interview, and good luck with 3PW.
