Bulldog Blanski

What up boys and girls. Today I interviewed Connecticut's own, Bulldog Blanksi. Blanksi has worked in many promotions, and is a part of ACW. Blanksi discusses all the rumors circling around ACW, Snake Brody, NY/NJ vs CT, as well as talking about his career. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How did you get into the pro wrestling business?

Bulldog Blanski: It was Ron Zombie who helped me out and guided me to my first school. Like most I grew up watching it. I also use to work security for ECW when they would run here in CT and I would talk to a few of the guys from time to time and that helped also.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You trained with Ox Baker. What was that like?

Bulldog Blanski: My training with Ox was brief but it was a lot of fun Ox was great to be around and I did learn a lot about the old days. He did teach me how to cut a promo, those of you who remember Ox know he still can cut one hell of a promo.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Alot of people who read this site might not know that much about the state of Indy wrestling in the state of Connecticut. For the people who don't know, what's going on in Connecticut?

Bulldog Blanski: Well when I first started out I only new of one fed here in CT and that was “Wrestleplooza” and on occasions the late Tony Rumble would bring his CWA here and then later he ran under NWA-NE. Then I recall Mike O’Brian running a fed called NEW he ran good solid shows along with Rumble.

A few feds popped up along the years in CT like CCW; CPW, UWA, ECPW, JWA but they never really did well here. Acid Pro was one of the first real good CT based federations. That was due in most part to Jason Knight taking control of it but when he had a falling out with the owners he then started his own fed ACW. In August it will be 3 years since he started. Fred Yale ran a few times back in 2000 then he started NAPW and then Joe LaChance started up CCW again and I can’t forget PWA and Xboku also tried but failed. And to be honest only ACW and CCW still run I know NAPW is running there last show soon and Mike E. Milano has said he will be start his own company called Defiant Pro Wrestling. As far as what’s going on here in CT that’s pretty much it.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You are part of ACW in a front office role. What are your exact duties in ACW?

Bulldog Blanski: Good question! As far as my duties, I guess they have changed over the years. Jason used to kid me about being a so-called “Agent”. I would mostly help get talent when needed and when asked I would give my input on story lines and I would also make recommendations. For the most part I would help run the locker room and try and act as a go between Jason and the boys. After working with Jason for a while I some what know what he expects to happen at his shows. Although over the past year I have not been able to do as much as I would like with ACW because im working on my acting and radio career.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Recently ACW had a little invasion with CCW. What is ACW's relationship with CCW today?

Bulldog Blanski: First off it was not an ACW invasion nor was it goingto be it was a “La Familia” invasion. It was suppose to be only a couple of shows but we ended it for reasons I will not get into at this time.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How do you think Connecticut promotions fare against the NY/NJ promotions? Do you honestly think I will tell you that CT feds are better the NY and NJ feds?

Bulldog Blanski: First off we only have like 2 feds here in CT and in NY and NJ god only knows how many there are. I think there are some feds here in CT that are better then NY and NJ feds but I also think NY and NJ have some feds that are also better then feds here in CT.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Why do you think independent wrestling in Connecticut isn't as popular as it is in New Jersey/Philly area?

Bulldog Blanski: I think its two reasons first is that we don’t offer the kinds of varity in wrestling and second is because we don’t have the kind of places to run in that NY, NJ and Philly do.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: One name that always comes up when discussing Indy wrestling is Snake Brody. What are your opinions on Snake Brody and why do you think some of his business relationships failed?

Bulldog Blanski: You know I have my ups and downs with this guy. The recent posting about him being a fireman in IRAQ is a fucking insult to those men and women who are really even over there. Look at it you can tell it’s a cut and paste job. This guy works in a mailroom for the Westport School system at ColeyTown JR High School. He has made more enemies then friends. We crossed paths once at the first FANSLAM in NJ and I called him out on a few things he said about me and he backed down and tried to put the blame on Pat Gunner and he said some shit about Anthony Michaels also. As far as why I think he failed im not too sure it may have to do with not having the monies to pay the boys and that fact that he knows nothing about the biz.

I would like to say for the record the one good thing that came out his shows was that he gave Low Life Louie the chance to work Terry Funk. I always liked Louie and I think of him as a good friend to this day. I was happy for Louie that he got his chance to work one of his idols.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What person in wrestling would you like to slap in the face?

Bulldog Blanski: Joe Rules

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You were involved in picking up some hoes courtesy of the Godfather. What was it like being on live TV and working on a WWF show?

Bulldog Blanski: It was great, and It’s funny because people still recognize me for that however it wasn’t my first time on TV I did Jerry Springer with Mary–Kate from JAPW. And working for the WWF was a memorable time and one I will not forget.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you think has been your best match?

Bulldog Blanski: To be honest im not sure if I ever really had one. I think most of my stuff was the shits and it wasn’t the boys I worked it was just myself. If I had to pick one I would say my match with Tiger Mulligan.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Which do you enjoy more and why, the in-ring aspect of wrestling or the behind the curtains aspect?

Bulldog Blanski: I like both I have been blessed to have some good teachers along the years and I have learned so much from everyone from Ox Baker to Gino Caruso and Jason.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: ACW has been going through some changes recently. Do you care to comment on the recent changes?

Bulldog Blanski: Not at this time.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your opinions on Jason Knight?

Bulldog Blanski: Jason has always been like an older brother to me. I have learned so much about not just wrestling but life in general. I will always be thankful to him.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts on the state of wrestling today?

Bulldog Blanski: I think its slowly gaining its popularity again.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How do you think Connecticut homegrown talent matches up against New Jersey homegrown talent?

Bulldog Blanski: Tough question, I think we have some good talent here guys like Dylan Kage, Ron Zombie, Slamdog and The Mercenary have helped put CT on the map along with them we have J_Busta, Spider and The Untouchables starting to make good names for them selves. Plus we have in my mind the best female wrestler in the Indy’s today in Mercedes Martinez and Talia is doing well as a valet. Plus Mike E. Milano is a great old school manger. Im not sure if we can hold up with NJ talent but we are definitely holding are own.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you think is the best promotion in the New England area?

Bulldog Blanski: I think every promotion brings some thing to the table.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What does ACW offer?

Bulldog Blanski: I have always said the ACW was a company for the workers by a worker. What I mean is that you had a company run by a guy with 20 some years in wrestling. I think we gave the fans some good matches along the years and I would like to think the fans enjoy what we do.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Recently ACW had to cancel a show. What was the reasoning behind the cancellation? Also, why do you think the "ACW is shutting down" rumors started? Is there any truth to them?

Bulldog Blanski: First off, there was every effort made to run the show. When it became apparent that it would definitely rain, a joint decision, between the ACW ownership, and the venue, was made to postpone. Sadly you have to deal with things like the weather when you run out side.

The impression was then given that we were going to go ahead and run the following week, which happened to be Mother's day.

From what I understand the venue decided to rethink the decision to run on Mother's day. These things happen. It was unavoidable.

And as far as the rumors that ACW is shutting down it was the marks that have nothing better to do then start shit.

Plus it didn't help that Mike was working on the site and had to move servers so I am sure that just helped people think ACW was closing because the web site went down. The next show is June 6 at Riders Café in Waterbury, CT.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is the best angle you've ever been part of?

Bulldog Blanski: The Godfather angle by far!

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What person in wrestling do you think belongs nowhere near the business?

Bulldog Blanski: Read above
