Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You started your wrestling career at a very young age in Camp IWF. How old were you when you officially started and what was it like training in IWF?
Alicia: Ok, well, I started my training in Camp IWF when I was 13 in November of 2000 and made my pro debut when I was 14 in March of 2001. Yeah.. I started VERY young. Training at IWF was and still is really different from every other school I've been to. It's very structured, organized, and professional. I met and grew up with some great people. Some who are still there, and some who are showing up all over the indies.
Alicia: IWF is a good school but an OK promotion. At the school you learn the basics and get a strong foundation of wrestling. But like everywhere else.. there's only so much you can learn from one place. Once you get basic training it's important to expand, hop on the indies, and get more experience. Besides -- I was the only girl there for 2 years, and I really needed to get some ring time with different girls from different places.
Alicia: Why do I always hear this?!? No, Kevin Knight DOES NOT want any percentage of his wrestlers money from indy bookings. Now let me explain where this one came from because no one else will. Sometimes when you sign up at a wrestling school and written in your contract is a certain percentage you may give to them if you ever "make it big" (to the WWE or somewhere else "big") that compensates them -- they DID train you and help start your career. Everything depends on what was written in your contract when you signed up. Every case is different. But when people hear IWF may have something like that in their contract they blow it up into "KEVIN KNIGHT TAKES $20 OF THE $25 THEY MAKE AT EVERY SHOW". That's not true AT ALL.
Alicia: Hands down, Me vs. Miss Kara at JCW in March. Kara's one of those people I have really good chemistry in the ring with. The match was solid, made sense, and the crowd was into it. I rarely like my matches.. and this was one of the only one's I've really liked.
Alicia: I know I'm the "AWW I LOVE EVERYONE" girl but that's not the case. I have like a handful of people I really like to be around and you'll see me constantly surrounding myself with them.
Alicia: There's no one I don't like really.. just people I'd rather not be around..::cough:: lol
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have recently been "fired" by the UWA. What led to your UWA dismissal?
Alicia: I'm sure everyone reading this has at least heard of the AWA/UWA situation so bare with me. I was one of the very few people who was caught in the middle of the nonsense because I was working for both promotions. AWA was providing me training, shows, and no problems as to where I can work, and UWA was providing me with shows and a headache as to where I was working. UWA publicly said "If you do AWA you can't do UWA". Needless to say I continued to work for AWA and UWA "fired" me.. and took me off their roster of girls. It sucks because I enjoyed working with a bunch of people there but my leaving there wasn't my decision so there's nothing I can do.
Alicia: I have no problems personally with Frankie Starz but I do think he needs to start handling some things a little differently. Like maybe using just e-mails and phone calls as opposed to message boards. As far as him being fair to the women wrestlers? I think as a whole Frankie Starz and the UWA were really unfair to their entire roster with the way they addressed how a decision between people working AWA or UWA was made.. and how personal heat between two owners got in the way of work and exposure for everyone in the back.
Alicia: Both companies like everything else has good things, and bad things about them. I liked working for both. Since I had left IWF I hadn't found a place -- or even a school could compare to my IWF expectations..until I found AWA. AWA is really professional, fun, and comfortable. Anyone who works there, trains there, or comes to the shows will agree. I support them 100%.
Alicia: No one yet, I'll keep you posted. LOL I mean...I hope no one ever gets me to the point of wanting to slap them in the face.
Alicia: KQ don't get mad.. I <3 ya bro. =) Besides the infamous "YOU KNOW WHAT'S COMIN'" story my favorite one took place when we were all out one night. KQ was talking to a girl and when he was done apparently made the comment "SHE'S ON MY BACK BURNER". For those of you who don't get it. On a stove/oven/whatever there are usually 4 burners... He'll put this girl on the BACKBURNER.. meaning she's like 2nd choice. This new popular line can also be used as "I'M MOVIN' HER TO THE FRONT BURNER" or even the threat "IF YOUR NOT GOOD I'LL MOVE YOU BACK TO THE BACK BURNER."
Alicia: Dan Barry's a nice guy and a fan of breaking lights. I really haven't thought too much about how much his head weighs. Give me a second to think.............................Hmm...................................Ok, I still have no idea of how much his head weighs.. check the boards.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You are the SSCW womans champion. How does that prestigious honor feel like?
Alicia: SSCW was one of the first places I worked, and one of the top places I enjoy working. They were the FIRST place to turn me heel, as well as the first place to make me their women's champ. They are always giving me new opportunities. It feels great to get to represent them as their women's champion.
Alicia: I like working for Carmine. I think Carmine's a good guy. His locker room is one I ALWAYS look forward to being in, and his shows are a bundle of fun.
Alicia: Ever since I followed Jersey indies, JCW was one of the places I wanted to work. I had what I think is my best match there infront of one of my biggest crowds. Ricky O has been nothing but nice and welcoming to me.
Alicia: There's a HANDFUL of girls I want to work, but one in particular that I haven't gotten to wrestle one on one yet is April Hunter.
Alicia: Right now some of my goals include: JAPW, USAPRO & ROH
Alicia: It all depends on how YOU personally handle things. Some girls don't realize it and they make it a lot harder for themselves by doing stupid things like listening to how they're the greatest thing ever and can do no wrong. They really start to think they're invincible. Those are the girls that have an especially hard time..because when reality hits them and they're not the "hot girl of the month" they struggle to hold on to what they had.. with no WRESTLING talent to back it up. But there are some girls who bust their asses and work as hard if not harder then the boys and make it easier for themselves in the long run by showing respect and giving their all.
Alicia: Stalkers scare me. I avoid them =)
Alicia: Wrestling for ECPW at the Mennan Arena and doing a pilot for CRUSH in Minnesota are tied.
Alicia: Train more, not keep it so simple, work on the look, you know..
Alicia: I started out being face for the longest time and became really comfortable with it. When I found out I was going to be heel I was really scared..then I worked a couple of matches as a heel and HATED it.. Now I LOVE it. It's a lot easier to get people to hate you then to love you.
Alicia: Oh so many. But the person who has single-handedly dropped me the MOST knowledge has to be Dawn Marie. When I started at IWF she was there running classes and training regularly. Listening and learning parts of the sport and business from her was one of the best things I could have done. She taught me SO much and helped me though my first few shows, telling me advice I'll never forget.
Alicia: All I have to say about untrained girls who take spots from others is if you really WANT it.. get trained, if not become a fan again. The end.
Alicia: Good. Everyone has their place. If there wasn't eye candy in wrestling some fans wouldn't follow it as closely if at all. Everyone wants something that's good to look at. God bless the hot girls.
Alicia: Short term to definitely work some promotions around here that I listed above.. and long term to make it as far as I can happily, and uninjured.
