I am sad to report that Doug Gentry, President of RF Video and a long time fixture with Ring Of Honor, has passed away. A few weeks back we reported about a rare bacterial infection found in his heart which needed surgery. Unfortuately, while undergoing antibotics (which was needed for several weeks prior to surgery), his health worsen. He was rushed to the hospital Thursday and was diagnosed with pneumonia. While hospitalized, he suffered a heart attack and passed away. He was only 34 years old.

I've said several times over the last two years that despite the issues I've had with ROH over the years, Doug Gentry was one guy you couldn't help but like. When the whole incident went down a few years back involving Rob Feinstein, I was quick to bash all involved with Ring Of Honor. Doug Gentry was the only and I mean only person at the time who even attempted to talk to us and calm things down. He was the primary reason why I even allowed myself the chance to hear Rob Feinstein's explanation of the incident. And if it wasn't for that talk, I would have till this day ignorantly pointed the finger at RF for something he did not do.

I did not know Doug personally. I saw him many times doing the ECW Fan Cam's back in the day. Other than the RF incident, I had the chance to chat with him at one of the last UXW events in New York last year. He was nothing but class. And trust me, I'm not saying this because he passed away. I said it two weeks back here on the site and even on our 1/15/07 webcast which is online. He was nothing but friendly towards me, was a classy guy, and he was taken from his friends and family way too soon.

Rest in peace Doug. On behalf of everyone here at the site, I send along my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
