Quick Doug Gentry Update

The news has only been out for an hour, but the DOI has gotten nothing but good words from people remembering Doug Gentry. I will have a more detailed thing up sometime this weekend as it is tough to put everything together.

Doug Gentry was a great person and a LOYAL person. You wouldn't find a more loyal guy than Doug Gentry in the wrestling business. It was his loyalty that caused him to leave ROH. The most depressing thing about the entire situation is that the people that he helped bring into ROH did not talk to him during the last 2 1/2 years of his life. The people making their living off his ideas and hard work wouldn't acknowledge him because of his loyalty to his friend.

I have known Doug for almost 5 years, and in the last three years I talked to him at least once a week. He had a huge passion for the wrestling business. I've said it before on this site and I'll say it again, he was one of the smartest guys for the wrestling business. He was a great booker who truly got it, and it's a shame that he doesn't get credit for what he's done and it's a shame he never got the ball rolling to prove to everyone what he got since the ROH/RF split.

Away from wrestling, Doug was a mans man. He'd give you the shirt off his back, stand the line with you and party like a champ. He was a great person to be around and his wrestling impersonations, such as his Ric Flair one, were dead-on.

It is eerie that just yesterday I'm watching a shoot interview with him that was conducted a month ago from RF Video. 30 days later he is now gone. I'm glad at least his friends and family will have this DVD to remember him by. The one regret I will have is that we never got to film a DVD where he was going to discuss all his booking ideas & what works, what doesn't. He even mentions this in the RF Shoot that he did. Whether people know it or not, a great mind for the wrestling business has been lost today. He was a huge asset to the business and a great friend to all who knew him.

I want to wish the best for his best friends Rob Feinstein and Joe Ferrera during this tough time.
