More Pro Wrestling Syndicate News
We got even more Pro Wrestling Syndicate news to report, after our initial update posted several hours ago. As reported earlier, ECW Original Danny Doring, was hired to run the locker room. There were several reasons Doring was hired to run the locker room. The main reason Doring was hired to run the locker room was because PWS didn't want any heat among wrestlers to turn physical backstage. PWS was already nervous about the Hero/Necro situation and didn't want anything else to happen at the show.
PWS, who got the venue and promoters insurance from Joe Panzarino's NWS promotion, was recommended Danny Doring by Joe Panzarino, as Joe has used Doring in the past without incident. Panzarino wanted someone with locker room experience to help PWS out as Panzarino couldn't be there to oversee things himself since NWS were running free street fair shows the same day. Since PWS was using NWS's venue and insurance, by having Doring there, it gave Panzarino & NWS peace of mind that there wouldn't be complete anarchy, and the chance that the building/insurance would be lost. As any indy promoter can tell you, with all the stuff in wrestling these days, it is becoming more difficult to get insurance.
Doring told the DOI that he wanted it to be made clear that he was never given an official list of PWS "do's & dont's". Doring went into the show with the sole intention of running the locker room, as he wasn't even booked to be wrestling on the event. Doring said he was never told by PWS promoter Eric Tapout what was off-limits and whatnot. Eric told the DOI that he was under the impression that Joe Panzarino told Doring what was going on, but in Doring's defense, the guy running the show should be the one giving the rules.
Doring, who is living comfortably and doesn't need indy paydays to survive, as he wrestles because he loves it, told the DOI that even though he wound up wrestling on the show, he didn't ask for more money than the price he agreed to with PWS for his locker room services. It wasn't even his idea to wrestle on the show, as Sabu asked him to be part of the match. Doring helped put the match together for all four guys since Sabu, Credible & Trent trusted him to do so.
As far as what was previously reported, Doring wanted to make it clear that he has no problem putting anyone over, and even said "I'll get pinned by Chrissy Rivera if that's what I'm paid to do." You could also look at Doring's past match history, especially in NWS, where Doring has lost to people that probably don't even deserve/belong to be in a ring. Doring said that Eric Tapout never told him anything about wanting Trent to win the match as it was booked to have Sabu win the match. Doring did say the match was originally booked to be an elimination match, but the reason he changed it was because the show was already going "USA Pro Wrestling Elks Lodge Days" long, just got off a terribly long 45 minute intermission, and didn't want to burn out the crowd with another big match left on the show. That is why the match turned into a one pinfall to a finish.
As far as taking the pin, Trent Acid, someone who respects this business alot, offered to take the pin since he was in the ring with 3 veterans. Credible & Doring had no problems taking the pin, but Trent made it clear he wanted to take it. In the words of Doring, what PWS promoter Eric Tapout thought might've looked like burying Trent was Doring's way of making Trent look strong, as Trent took everyone's finisher before getting pinned by Sabu. The thought from Doring was that Trent took everything but the kitchen sink, and it took that much to put him down.
Doring, who as reported earlier, suffered an injured rib in the match off a routine move, but stayed for the duration of the show to make sure there were no problems/incidents, as Tapout was worried about something happening. According to Doring, Doring wasn't pleased when he told Eric Tapout that he was injured, and got a blow-off type response from Eric. Doring said despite being injured, he helped to clean up the locker room, to make sure there were no problems with NWS or any other promotion returning to the venue. Other wrestlers backed up Doring's story and said they saw Doring cleaning up empty cans, wrestler wrist tape, etc.
In regards to the previously reported Lanny Poffo autograph session, the DOI was told that both Crowbar & Poffo were paid for by a vendor. What we didn't know earlier was that the wrestlers weren't getting a split on the money. It is customary for wrestlers to either get a flat fee to sign, in addition for their services to wrestle, or do a 50/50 split with a vendor, especially if the vendor is providing pictures & polaroids. That was not the case here, as Crowbar & Poffo weren't making anything back on the deal, which seems to be a lack of communication problem between the vendor and the wrestlers. Crowbar, another guy who wrestles out of the love of wrestling and not because he needs the money (Crowbar runs a successful physical therapy practice/business) signed for several fans but didn't want anyone getting over/taking advantage of him. It should be stated that both Doring & Tapout were pleased with his match, as Crowbar did go all out, as he normally does, trying to steal the show.
Doring, who told the DOI that he thought Eric Tapout was a flash in the pan mark, said that he respected the building and went above and beyond what his original job was, as he wrestled on the show when he wasn't booked. The show seemed a bit disorganized but it was because he was never given a layout of what PWS wanted done from him.
Doring did admit to cutting a controversial promo in the ring that may have been over the edge (as he referenced drug usage of his opponents) but said he was caught up in the heat of the moment for the match. For what it's worth, the sound system was pretty bad that I doubt anyone from the building heard it anyway, which is the only reason PWS would care what was said. Doring did own up to his mistake, even though it wasn't a real big deal, which I thought was a stand up thing to do.
Doring made it clear that he wouldn't be back in PWS in the forseeable future. Also, Rocksha & Niggataker, who were just walking around during the matches was not Doring's idea and didn't even realize they were sent out there to be part of the crowd by Tapout.
Overall, while the show wasn't terribly bad, it just was really long. It should also be stated that Doring did not book the show, but gave the finishes as requested by Eric Tapout.
We'll have more news soon.
