Update 11/9

The DOI can confirm that Claudio Castagnoli has officially signed a WWE developmental contract. It is rumored that he will be assigned to Deep South Wrestling, but that is not confirmed.

Claudio has not officially commented on his signing yet. Being a co-holder of the CZW, ROH & Chikara Tag Titles with Chris Hero, it should be an interesting couple of weeks to see what happens with his future title defenses.

It is not 100% known yet when Claudio officially starts, which means he might not lose his championship belts right away. There is a possibility he could get the "CM Punk" treatment, and be given time to finish up his indy dates and continue the current story arcs that he's apart of.

Either way, look for Claudio to start training in a WWE developmental territory in 2007.

Update 11/3

In an update on Claudio Castagnoli's Deep South Wrestling try-out, the DOI has heard that Claudio has been offered the standard WWE developmental contract. However, as of press time, the DOI can not confirm Claudio's future, as we have not heard that he has signed it yet.

Obviously, if Claudio went to DSW to try-out, one must assume that the WWE is his goal and that he will sign. On the other hand, Claudio stands to make more money on the indy scene than he would under a standard WWE developmental contract, although the chances to make more money in the long term future is with the WWE contract.

We hope to have more news soon.

As originally broken on the DOI, Claudio Castagnoli was at Deep South Wrestling all week, trying out in front of WWE scouts. From sources the DOI talked to, Claudio aced his try-out, and it is expected that he will be offered a WWE developmental deal, if he wasn't already offered one as of this writing.

Claudio is well known on the indy scene as he is part of the ultra-successful "Kings of Wrestling" tag team with Chris Hero. Together, the pair has won numerous indy tag team titles, including the ROH Tag Titles.

Claudio Castagnoli Tries Out For the WWE

Multiple time indy tag team champion, Claudio Castagnoli, is currently in WWE's Deep South Wrestling promotion. Claudio is there for a week as he will be evaluated by WWE scouts. As many may know, most of Deep South's roster were signed to WWE developmental contracts after successful week-long try-outs in DSW.
