The show kicked off with a ticket seller battle royal, with the winner getting a shot at Corvis Fear's New Jersey Shore Title

later on in the show.
Corvis Fear came out first, to say he was scouting the match. Gavin Quest came out saying he was the number 1 contender and

didn't get why this battle royal was taking place. This all led to Gavin being kicked out of the arena since he wasn't going

to get a title shot tonight.


Slayer defeated 11 ticket sellers & Quest under a mask, in a match straight out of the UXW Elks Lodge days. At least the

right person won this match, as Slayer is 100% trained wrestler who was placed in this battle royal. While most of the ticket

sellers in this match were god awful, Slayer was good in his role and I enjoy his savage gimmick. He definitely has good

charisma. However, there was a catch to Slayer's win, as the last guy he eliminated was Antonio Malave, who unmasked himself

to be Gavin Quest. However, Corvis gave Slayer an assist and pulled the rope down as Gavin was about to bounce off the ropes,

eliminating Quest for Slayer.
As a result of his win, he'd face Corvis Fear later on in the show.
As many people may or may not know, I helped out booking the tournament matches, so I'll be honest and admit that fact here.

However I do think the overall match order on this show was wrong, because by doing this match first, half the crowd left

after intermission, because that part of the crowd got to see who they wanted to see. A note to all promoters who use ticket

sellers (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to survive)- put the ticket sellers

on after intermission or else you risk having a dead crowd during your main event.
As far as this match, it was the usual dreck you'd expect, especially from guys like Dirtbag Dan. Half the guys couldn't go

over the top rope right. Like I said above, at least the right guy went over, as Slayer is a fully trained wrestler and has

an easy gimmick to get into.

Archadia & Alicia d. Alexa Thatcher/Nicky Oceans & Cindy Rogers/Cabbie, when Archadia hit the "Holy Death" on Alexa.
This was a good match. All the teams really clicked in this match. Archadia and Alicia were your full blown heels in this

match, inciting the crowd. Cabbie & Rogers also heeled it up, and aligned with Alicia & Archadia at points in the match.

Alexa Thatcher took a thrashing in this match. She's really shown alot in the ring from the limited times I've seen her

wrestle. Also improving is Nicky Oceans, who should try to get more exposure outside of NWS. This match was a bit spotty at

times, but in a match like this, what can you expect. The crowd was into it, and Archadia plowed Alexa with his Holy Death

finisher for the 1-2-3, instantly giving him tons of heat for brutalizing a girl.
Good little match here, which the crowd was into.

Amy Lee/Bison Bravado vs Corrupted Youth/Missy "Don't Call Me Luscious Lily Anymore" Sampson vs Fever/Z-Barr went to a no-

contest/triple disqualification when Z-Barr ran out in the crowd chopping fans and the other two teams beat up the referee.


This match was the only match on the show to feature hardcore elements, making all three teams look tough. Unfortunately, one

team wasn't tough enough and that was Z-Barr & Fever, as Z-Barr left the ring whining and cursing after taking a victim kick

from Bison Bravado. Some people aren't made for wrestling, and I guess Z-Barr is one of them, as he couldn't take a victim

kick. At least the ticket sellers in the battle royal tried hard and took some vicious offense, which couldn't be said for Z

-Barr. (Funny enough and of course ironically enough, the next few matches all had victim kicks in it, as a salute to Z-Barr.

However, all the people who took the victim kicks continued the match and didn't storm out of the ring like a baby without a

bottle. Even the huge Johnny Candido powered two victim kicks on Melissa Stripes, and she took it like a champ.)
After Z-Barr left the ring (and the show, which led to NWS promoters informing him he'll never be booked there again) the

match continued between Bison/Lee & Youth/Sampson. Both teams brought the pain to each other, but weren't satisfied with

kicking the crap out of each other, as both teams decided to beat up the man in the striped shirts. With all the brutality

and violence, and blatant disrespect for the referee, both teams were tossed out. The ref ruled this match as a no-contest

and disqualified everyone, which meant if the same result happened in the next match, Alicia & Archadia would win the

tournament by default.
Obviously this match had alot to overcome due to one team, but the professionals in the ring kept their cool and gave it all

they had. After seeing these two teams brawl, I don't think the Manasquan fans would mind seeing Bison/Lee vs Sampson/Youth

in a hardcore match down the line. Lee & Sampson are both good heels and fit in well with this match. I also liked the

chemistry between Bison & Lee, and I think if you turn them up all the way, and let them run their potty mouths, they could

be an interesting team on the indy scene.

Danny Demanto/Melissa Stripes d. Sumie Sakai/Shane Taylor & Alere Little Feather/Johnny Candido when Danny Demanto

hogsplashed Candido for the win.
This was another good first round match in this tournament. As I mentioned above, Candido kicked the crap out Stripes with

two victim kicks, but she kept going on. The story of this match saw Melissa Stripes literally earn her Stripes as she took a

lickin' and kept on tickin'. Danny was a good partner for her, as he was able to work the crowd on the outside of the ring,

while Stripes did all the work inside of it. Sumie did her classic hair pull spot in this match. Her partner Taylor assisted

her, by starting a chain with all the heels, as Sumie put Stripes in an abdominal stretch. Alere & Candido, who were the

heels here, got in their fair shots and (indian) chops in this match. However, Danny was able to hit the frogsplash on Johnny

Candido for the win, and you could tell Johnny wasn't too happy with the end result.
Good match here. All three teams busted their ass here.





There was a bunch of mic work between Salvatore Sincere w/Ryan Maher, Tammy Sytch and Gino Moore. This was way too long and

brought us to...

INTERMISSION
The wrestlers signed autographs and to conclude intermission, we had a presentation from the Manasquan Elks Lodge to the

Chris Candido Memorial Fund. The Elks donated $500 to the fund, with the money being used towards a scholarship for a

Manasquan High School student.




Tammy Sytch/Trent Acid d. Hammy (Saddam Insane/Harry Acropolis)/Salvatore Sincere w/Ryan Maher
The match wasn't that great, but the fans got what they want. This match was entertaining for what it was, and featured Tammy

Sytch hitting the stunner on Hammy for the win.
POSTMATCH: Tons of interference from a bunch of NWS heels was up next, as they attacked Tammy. Trent & Sal went to the back.

Gino Moore got into a bunch of blabbering with Ryan Maher. More debauchery in the ring took place. The Patriot made the save

for Tammy, only to be beaten down by the heels. I think the Patriot should've just made the save to end this, just for the

fact that it would be funny that he was in & out of the same match under two different guises. However, we didn't have that,

as someone under a Patriot mask came out to make the save for Tammy. More mic work as this segment dragged on. Eventually a

tag match between The Patriot & The Guy in the Patriot Mask (who was now called the Dark Patriot) vs Saddam Insane & some

heels was set-up. However Ryan Maher wanted the Dark Patriot to unmask. This was built up with suspense, but when the Dark

Patriot unmasked, it was Chemical Ali, who is Insane's partner. Unfortunately, no one in the crowd knew that, so the crowd

was silent when he unmasked. Gino had to explain what a shock this was to the crowd. Eventually more blabbering and more

bickering ended this painfully long segment.
This was way too much and took too long. This almost killed the show, as the angle was a good one, but you had the same promo

take place before & after intermission, and by the time it was over, and hour was dedicated to this and it was just way too

long and restless for a crowd to absorb.
I will say one thing- Gino Moore is the Triple H of NWS. He wields the power and doesn't put over anyone at all. Gino is a

loved figure for the NWS crowds, and if NWS ever wanted to really give someone the rub and make him the hugest heel in NWS

history, all they would have to do is lay out Gino Moore.
The match was what it was and entertaining for the crowd but all the theatrics afterwards was too long and if it was

abridged, it would've been better.









For the NWS Jersey Shore Championship

I felt bad for both of these guys as most of the crowd left at this point. Out of the jam packed 280 in that building (as it

was practically standing room only when the show started), I'd say only 100 fans still remained. The whole segment before

this sucked the life out of this crowd, as it was getting late and some people left, some people went to go get food and some

people went to go drain the main vein. This match would've had more heat if it happened right after the battle royal while

Slayer's win was still fresh. After what we just saw, Slayers win seemed ages ago.
This match was ok for what it was, but it was just hard to get into. Slayer picked up the deserving win, and the crowd

clapped.
POSTMATCH: Corvis Fear attacked Slayer. That was unnecessary as we just saw a heel beatdown in the match previous.

To Crown the King & Queen
Danny Demanto & Melissa Stripes d. Alicia & Archadia in an amazing match.
I've said it a million times on the site that I'm not a huge fan of womens wrestling or women wrestling men, especially when

the girls are small, but this match floored me.

I didn't expect the match we got here, as Melissa Stripes became a star in this tournament. This was an excellent tag team

match where you will witness the latest sensation in womens wrestling- Melissa Stripes.

Despite taking a beating in both rounds, and taking a sick bump on her neck, Melissa fought back and hit a top rope

moonsault to the outside on Archadia. Melissa then won the match for her team after a picture perfect 450 splash on Alicia.

This match saw one of the top & well known Jersey girls, Alicia, elevate a new talent to the next level. The men also busted

their ass very hard in this match, but this match was all about shining the new star of Melissa Stripes. This is one

match/DVD you don't want to miss out on when it's released.
POSTMATCH: Johnny Candido attacked Danny Demanto for pinning him earlier on. This led to Danny challenging Candido to a match

on 6/28 for Candido's hardcore title.




Final McWord

I thought this was a pretty good NWS show, with my only complaints being the length of the Patriot/Insane/Gino stuff and the

match order. The battle royal would've been better off later in the show, as the crowd would've been hotter in the later

matches. As a result, they were burnt out towards the end, although the main event of the show brought the crowd back.


The matches were all pretty good, with the main event standing out the most. The only really terrible thing was the battle

royal, but the finish was pretty good and set up future matches for upcoming NWS events.

Match of the night easily goes to the main event. It was a good bout with everything clicking.

The one thing NWS does better than alot of companies is setting up stories and angles show-by-show. Tons of stuff was set up

on this show for future events. NWS has mastered the promoting art when it comes to spreading the word about future events

at their shows.

Overall
A solid NWS event with a good tournament and a great main event.
