Update on the Dave Nelson Situation

Hacksaw Jim Duggan added more comments about the Dave Nelson/3WA situation on his official website. Here is what Hacksaw had to say:

Hacksaw Jim Duggan does not have any deal with Dave Nelson, 3WA or NWA Ohio.

On April 16, 2005, I did an indy show in Ohio for a guy named Dave Nelson. I checked with my friend, Barbarian and he gave me the ok on Nelson. I did the show which was in New Lexington, Ohio at a school that Nelson said was his. It was a good indy show and everyone got paid. After the show, he told me about how he was going to go big time with a large investment and that he had talked to Greg "The Hammer" and Kevin Sullivan about running it, but asked if I would like to do it. I said if it ever gets up and running I would be glad to. I did not put to much faith into it because many guys dream of taking their show to the next level and don't have what it takes.

On April 26th, 10 days later, Nelson calls and says that he is down in Orlando for the TNA tapings and would I come down and give him my opinion on what was going on with the company and if he should get involved. I have not been to a TNA taping in years, since Jarrett hit me in the head with his guitar trying to get himself over again. I went down, figuring that if Nelson had the Panda and TNA people wining and dining him, he must be legit.

Seeing the way Nelson was able to use his guys on the show further reinforced his standing with TNA. After watching a couple of tapings, we had the meeting where Nelson was supposedly about to invest $10,000,000.00 into TNA. When asked my opinion by Jerry Jarrett, if Nelson should invest, I said NO. You could see the displeasure of the people in the room. When asked my opinion, I gave it. It would be better to take that money and start something new, more traditional with a mix of the new, something more family oriented.

Nelson took my advise and pulled out of the TNA deal. I thought that was great, even though I burnt the bridge with TNA forever. This is where things start to smell a bit, many things Dave said were going to happen were not lining up.

On the 3WA web site, they had myself, Bill Eddie, Jimmy Hart and Bill Apter on the board of directors, though we never talked. Then, at on one of Nelsons indy shows, he hands out contracts for the young talent with nothing on them. Promises of an over seas trip, a pay per view and an ESPN TV deal, were put all over his web site.

Many wrestlers both young and old were calling me trying to get booked on these shows. Finally, I had to tell Nelson straight out to pull me off his website because all the miss information that he was putting out was hurting my wrestling business and my credibility. He was using my name and likeness to promote a company that I had nothing to do with, no more than any wrestler has with any indy promotion.

I hope one day, that someone is able to start up a new company. It would be good for the sport, the fans and the wrestlers. But if they do, they must understand it takes time, money and someone who will listen to the pros on how to do it right. HOOOOOOO!!!

Dave Nelson Busted For Lying Again

The following statement comes from the official Hacksaw Jim Duggan website, which you can view at:
http://www.hacksaw.newpathproductions.com/Main.html

Duggan's representative begins:
A lot of people have been asking us about Hacksaw's affiliation with the WWWA and NWA Ohio. To set the record straight, Hacksaw Jim Duggan has nothing to do with the WWWA or NWA Ohio. Despite what many have seen on the internet that Hacksaw is part of the WWWA. Though he has done three shows for Dave Nelson, Hacksaw has NEVER signed a contract with him or the WWWA.

This goes against Dave Nelson stating that Hacksaw did sign a contract with WWWA.

It seems that Nelson can't keep his stories straight at all anymore. It should be interesting if he will finally admit to making up a bunch of malarkey or if he will continue on with this facade.

Update on the WWWA Situation

According to sources close to the situation, Dave Nelson has resigned from WWWA. The official WWWA website, WWWAWrestling.net has also been closed down, as a result of Nelson's lies coming to light.

More on the WWWA Situation

After posting ESPN's email, where they implied that Dave Nelson was lying about a working relationship with ESPN, several emails were sent to the DOI. Apparently, Dave Nelson has scammed people in other territories, and he's being investigated by two local police departments for fraud.

One wrestler, who almost signed Dave Nelson's ESPN Wrestling contract, told the DOI that he was "Thankful for reading the story", and that the contract offered to him was "complete bullshit".

Phone calls to Dave Nelson's residence about this issue went unanswered.

ESPN Claims To Have No Knowledge About Dave Nelson's ESPN Promises

A DOI source recently contacted ESPN, and sent the following email:

Recently a man by the name of David Nelson Sr. has been sending out press releases and emails regarding a professional wrestling television show that he says will begin airing on ESPN starting on Saturday, November 26th, 2005 from 9 to 10pm. The wrestling federation/promotion/program is referred to as "3WA" and/or "WWWA". He is using this alleged television time slot as a tool to make business deals but has yet to provide any such proof that his professional wrestling program will be airing on your network. Certainly people agreeing to business proposals with him under the assumption that he has a television time slot on your network are doing so at their discretion, however for individuals who are not yet willing to make business agreements with Mr. Nelson without confirmation on the television time slot, it is a difficult position to be in.

If you could shed some light on this situation it would be greatly appreciated by many people. While I certainly understand that you are not able to respond to all messages sent to you or you are unable to confirm the above, I would appreciate a response just to know that this email has in fact been read and is on the record.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Name Withheld

ESPN responded to the DOI source saying:

We would like you to know that we did receive your email in addition to a few other emails on this matter. Please know that no one in our programming department has heard anything about this wrestling program, and it is not on our schedule for November. We have forwarded this information to our legal department for their review.

Thank you for altering us to this situation.
Sincerely,
ESPN Viewer Response
ESPN

As you can tell, Dave Nelson seems to be the latest eyes-wide-open mark promoter who is full of false promises and big dreams. It should be interesting to see how Dave Nelson replies to this story, when ESPN has put it out there that Dave Nelson is flat out lying. It should also be interesting to see if ESPN takes any legal action against Dave Nelson, as Nelson is using ESPN's letters for his own financial gain.

PREVIOUS UPDATE:

TONS of WWA/Dave Nelson News

The DOI has received the following email from a talent not booked on the upcoming 3WA shows, but received the email through a friend. The following email details 3WA's plans. 3WA is a promotion that is ran by Dave Nelson. Dave Nelson recently made headlines by offering to purchase TNA. Dave Nelson seems to have huge plans. Read them for yourself here:

ESPN UPDATE

Changes have been made currently via ESPN for Corporate reasons, the 2 hour proposal is now on hold for a 90 day period. However we are set with a one hour weekly program in which the date has been set back due to what ESPN calls "SPCOC", and Time slot availability. What this means for the 3WA is this: 3WA will premier on ESPN beginning Saturday November 26th, with a time slot of 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., This first show will be the Thanksgiving show in Iraq from 2 days prior. ESPN will send a crew with us for taping during the Holiday season.

(The Iraq trip is now scheduled for the departure from Rickenbacker Air Force Base in Columbus Ohio on Monday November 21st, with a fee of $150 per day to all who are picked to take part, this is $50 less then expected but remember it is for the troops)

Next topic is Pay Per View. Jimmy Hart is the one who decided to set this for Orlando and we followed his decision. However do to the problem getting the booking at the Hard Rock Cafe for the 29th, this date will also be changes and update in the next 5 days along with the location venue and matches scheduled. Please understand that the Board of directors are working hard on three different projects and being a new company we all need to expect set backs.

Final topic: Contracts; On Thursday November 3rd, All Workers given contracts will be flown to Orlando for the final meeting with the entire board of directors. During this time we will discuss pay and requirements of contracts. We will need all names of the guys as appears on Drivers License to book air line tickets with South West, You will be staying at the Double Tree Resort on Universal Drive Orlando. The 3WA will only provide one round trip ticket for the worker only, if you would like to bring guest you will need to pay those fares or drive.
Upon signing of the contracts you will be given a check for retainer that will be deducted from your contract agreement.

The next meeting with ESPN is the final meeting and will be held in Bristol CN. The one hour we have been given is a chance to show the world that 3WA has what it takes to rise to the top....

A special note: Please guys stay off the forums, do not write anything on them and do not lower yourselves to even go read the garbage, many of you have contacted us with references to the message boards, so as a rule from the 3WA office, STAY OFF THE MESSAGE BOARDS AND FORUMS....

Big Note: We do have a show in 2 weeks in Chillicothe Ohio for big Brothers and Big Sisters program, it will be a benefit for the Law Enforcement and Big Brother Program.... I will notify each one of you if you are booked for that event, some of you already know you are.

Thanks, And congratulations for making the roster for the ESPN 3WA Saturday Night......

As you can tell Dave Nelson is making alot of big promises to his wrestlers. Let's hope he comes through, as wrestling on ESPN hasn't been seen since the AWA days. In two months, either Dave Nelson will be a major player in the wrestling business or just another wide-eyed promoter with false promises. Hopefully it's the former and not the latter, in Dave's case.

I also find it interesting that Nelson stressed that he didn't want anyone reading message boards. Several message boards have called Dave Nelson the next John Collins. (The failed promoter of MECW). We'll see what Dave does in November.

We'll have more on this story shortly.
