3PW Mayhem @ The New Alhabra (ECW Arena)
Preshow – All the guys in the locker room come out for a Chris Candido tribute.
Match 1 – Kris Krude def Drew Blood w/ Devon Moore
Before the match started we got the always entertaining Krude spray down. The person who he got this time is an older lady who seemed to enjoy it. Once the action finally started, Drew tried to break down Krude with a few strikes but of course they didn’t faze Krude because he is literally three times bigger than Drew. After some more strikes and a Devon assisted top rope drop kick, Krude finally went down. It took Drew, Devon, and the ref to get Krude back up to his feet. It looked like Drew was gaining some momentum until Krude countered one of his moves and got him in a vicious samoan drop. Devon tried to help by jumping on Krude’s back but all that did was put Devon in position for a painful groan kick from Krude. Drew jumped on Krude’s back for the sleeper until Krude turns it into an inverted piledriver which is botched and lands Drew on Krude’s thigh. Krude got the pin.Rating – 6 Decent comedy match, both men are fun to watch. I really like Drew’s reactions and facial expressions.
Match 2 - Teddy Fine w/ “Downtown” Mike Brown & Melissa def Ron Zombie
A few standard lockups started the match. Teddy hit a couple power moves and knocked Ron over the top rope. Mike Brown struggled to get Ron back in the ring, pretty funny to watch. Ron got the advantage with a few power moves of his own including a sick looking neck breaker and a face buster (forward falling suplex). Teddy turned the momentum and hit a botched complete shot, then a top rope splash for the win. Rating – 5 Not a bad match but not a great match a few botched moved but nothing to bad. Teddy constantly surprises me with his energy and effort in the ring. This was a big win for him considering he’s still a student.
Match 3 – King’s of Philly (Monsta Mack & Damian Adams) def Dirk Sigler & Sterling James Keenan
Before the match got started, Dirk and Keenan spent about five minutes taunting the crowd. Adams and Keenan started out the match. Both men exchanged some decent chain wrestling moves. Once Mack came in, he cleaned house. Mack hit a good British Bulldog stall suplex on Keenan. After Adams and Dirk tagged in, Dirk got the advantage when Keenan pulled the ropes down and Adams went flying. Keenan got back in and did some wear down moves on Adams, some double teaming also occurred. Keenan hit a cool looking fireman’s carry into a backbreaker. Adams nailed some really stiff punches to gain some offense. Once Adams got the hot tag, Mack came in and cleaned some more house. Adams came back in and finished with an Alabama Slam for the win. Rating – 6 I think Dirk and Keenan spent too much time on the crowd which slowed things down at points. Good match though, I liked Adams’ version of the Alabama Slam. I have no idea why this match took place considering both teams are in the tag rumble and the show ran long.
Match 4 – Josh Daniels def Devon Moore (no Drew Blood)
A lot of quick chain and submission exchanges to start. Daniels slowed the match down with some more submission attempts. A loud “boring” chant starts, I think the crowd was a little to quick to whip out the “boring” chant. Devon picked up the pace with some fast kicks and other high impact moves. After it slowed down again, the “boring” chant started back up. Devon tried to hit a dive through the ropes but Daniels stopped him. The “boring” chant goes up but this time it’s followed by a “this match sucks” chant. Daniels hit a back suplex then slowed the pace down again. Daniels then hit another big suplex. Devon countered off a suplex and hit a superkick. Daniels gets a few more suplexs including a northern lights and gets a couple near pin falls. Devon landed a moonsault but didn’t get the pin. Daniels ends up hitting a full nelson suplex into a pin. Rating – 6 This match wasn’t nearly as bad as the crowd reactions. Daniels style isn’t very flashy but its effect and that’s all that matters. It’s gonna be awesome to see how good Drew and Devon get because they are already extremely fun to watch.
Simon Diamond comes out for a promo. Talia told the crowd the she got April banned from ringside so she won’t be in the main event. Slyck interrupted, doing an anti Philly, pro Boston promo. (Ok Slyck the super bowl was months ago we get it!) Roadkill came out next saying that he should be the champ because Simon cost him the match last month for the title. Mike Hawes came out and we have ourselves a 3 Way Dance! All three men started fighting and the locker room clears to separate them.
Match 5 – CJ O’Doyle def Greg Spitz (Grudge Match)
The match started on the outside where CJ got an early advantage. CJ hit a sunset flip and a suplex that sent Spitz slamming down on the concrete floor. Spitz ran towards CJ but CJ was able to hip toss him over the railing through a chair. Back in the ring, Spitz hit a russian leg sweep into a submission move that I’ve never seen before. The crowd is massively behind CJ. Spitz took the upper hand for a bit. CJ reversed a springboard into a big slam. CJ tried for a three amigos but Spitz countered the last one into a sloppy superkick. CJ then hits FIVE countem, FIVE germens. CJ hit the westside sickle clothesline but didn’t get the cover. At this point the crowd is going insane for CJ until Spitz nailed him with a low blow. CJ decimated Spitz with another westside sickle/clothesline out of nowhere for the pin. After the pin, Spitz started attacking CJ with the ref’s belt and got on the mic to throw down a strap match challenge for next month. Rating – 8.5 This match was the turning point of the night. It really got the crowd going. I’ve seen a lot of CJ’s matches, and I would have to say this was his best one yet. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the crowd in this place so loud during a 3PW show. Spitz botched a couple of moves but still put on a good show. This is turning out do be a great rivalry.
Match 6 – Top Rope Tag Team Rumble for the 3PW Tag Championship
Notorious Inc. and Kris Krude start it off. Apparently Krude doesn’t need a partner for this considering he’s bigger than Drew and Devon combined. Drew and Devon try to wear down Krude but can’t get him over the rope. Krude laid the two on top of each other and hit a huge elbow. Devon and Drew hit a big double dropkick in the corner. They still can’t get Krude over the rope. Krude nailed Devon with a big samoan drop. –Blackballed enter. Once in the ring, Rebel and Matthews dominate. Blackballed hit a HIGH back drop on Devon. –Dirk & James Keenan enter. Blackballed are still standing tall, working over Dirk and James really bad. –Salvation entered as all hell breaks loose. Krude splashed both Dirk and James at the same time in the corner, and I swear the ring moved 2 feet. –Primetime Playaz enter. Wayyy too much is going down at once. –Meanie and O’Doyle enter. A huge O’Doyle chant starts. Still nobody has been eliminated at this point. –Monsta Mack and Damian Adams enter. All the guys in the ring try to get Krude out, but Krude farts and the ring clears. Krude broke out the air freshener to try but I doubt it helped. Spitz ran in and dumped out CJ. Both men went at it on the outside. Even though Spitz was never entered, Meanie and CJ are officially out of the rumble. Meanie came back out to wave a cheese steak in front of Krude. Krude jumped over the ropes and ran like hell for the cheese steak, Krude is out. Judas Grey from the Salvation dumped out Mike Brown from the Primetime Playaz, Playaz are out. The Salvation are quickly eliminated after. Blackballed throw out Dirk, Dirk and James are out. Matthews throws Devon onto Dirk and James, Notorious Inc.are out. Drew was still in the ring until Mack flipped him over the ropes onto the guys outside the ring. Only Mack/Adams and Blackballed are left. Rebel worked on Adams outside the ring. Mack tried to get a pin on Matthews, therefore it’s no longer over the top rope but pin fall. Blackballed brought out a table. Mack hit a senton on Matthews that sent him through the table. Rebel hit Mack with a piledriver on the broken table for the pin. Rating – 7 Who isn’t a fan of over the top matches? Rebel got on the mic and said anyone who wanted a shot at the champions could get one. This brought out TNA announcer Jeremy Borash. He told Blackballed that he has a tag team for them to face in two months, but until he has a preview. This brought out Abyss and our next match.
Match 7 Abyss def Messiah (Bring Your Own Weapons Match)
Before the match started, Messiah brought out a whole trashcan full of weapons. (No sign of my rubber arm) Messiah went on the offensive side early with a top rope leg scissors (looked like a tarantula type hold). Messiah nailed Abyss a few times with a serving plate. Messiah grabbed a ukulele (you-ka-lay-lee) and tried to hit Abyss with it from the top rope. Abyss countered the strike into a chokeslam. Abyss picked up a crutch and DESTROYED it over Messiahs head. Abyss ran into the corner for a splash but hit the ref. Abyss shattered the ukulele over Messiah. Messiah was busted open really bad. Abyss hit a black hole slam for pin. Rating – 7 It was obvious that the match was stopped short. It only lasted about five minutes or so. Messiah was bleeding so bad that an extra intermission had to be taken to clean up all of Messiahs lost blood. If match went long, it could have been a bloody classic.
Match 8 – Chris Sabin def “Cowboy” James Storm
It was known that Sabin was returning at this show but James Storm was a total surprise. Storm spent about 5 minutes taunting the crowd before the match. A lot of quick exchanges in the first minute or so. Storm left the ring and tried to leave the building but Sabin mocked him until he came back in the ring. More very quick action. They go outside as both men served some punches on the floor. Sabin hit a springboard dropkick for a near pin. Both shared a few very hard chops. Both men try for some quick wear down moves. Storm goes for one sleeper and already the “boring” chant starts, give me a break! Both men headed outside again. Storm sent Sabin hard into the rail. Sabin managed to build enough offense to get back in the ring and dive through the ropes onto Storm. Storm gained the advantage with a very hard kick to the midsection followed by a brainbuster. Storm hit an inverted DDT from the top rope. Sabin hit a tornado DDT for some quick offense. Storm hit an intense superkick. Storm then went outside and grabbed two chairs. The ref threw one to the outside as Storm nailed Sabin with the other chair. As Strom runs towards Sabin, he gets tripped and eats the chair. Sabin hit his samoan driver finisher for the pin. Rating – 8.5 Great match, just because the guys slow down to catch their breath doesn’t mean a boring chant should start. Its gonna be cool to see what kind of role Storm plays in 3PW.
Match 9 – Roadkill def Slyck Wagner Brown and Simond Diamond w/ Talia
Simon and Roadkill started things off as Slyck was watching from the top rope. Roadkill got dumped outside by Slyck and received a rather weak hurricanrana. Simon and Slyck get in the ring and go at it for awhile. Simon goes for a 3 amigos of his own on Slyck. (CJ tried one earlier) Simon and Slyck argued with each other until Roadkill clotheslined them both. Slyck got Roadkill on the turnbuckle for a leg scissors into a victory roll but didn’t get the pin. All 3 men got in the corner. Roadkill did an electric chair drop to Simon while he is suplexing Slyck. Simon knocked Roadkill off the top rope through a table. Slyck got Simon in a submission move where he bent Simon’s leg over his neck. Simon ended up submitting. The match still went on. Slyck started beating Roadkill with his suspenders. Slyck hit a big sidewalk slam and then a moonsault. Slyck had roadkill locked up when Simon came back in and gave Slyck a stiff kick. Roadkill hit a very long buggy drop for the pin. All the faces came out and hoisted Roadkill for the celebration. Rating – 8 Very good match, if the show wasn’t running almost an hour late it probably would have been longer. This championship is a long time coming for Roadkill, he should be a good champion for 3PW considering he is closely associated with the ECW arena and the ECW style.
Final Comments – The show was very good but ran a little long. I think the company is moving in a great direction. All the matches were good. Personally I think instead of trying to build with TNA guys, 3PW should build with some bigger named non-TNA guys to establish an identity apart from TNA. I think if they got Test and maybe another ex WWE guy like A-Train then 3PW could be the top indy fed. Also I was very impressed with how over CJ O’Doyle is with the crowd. I’ve seen CJ matches in other feds and he isn’t over anywhere near what he is in 3PW. He’s an extremely hard worker and deserves it. Until next time…
