The time for talk is rapidly coming to an end. The days are turning to hours as we countdown to 1PW’s Know Your Enemy weekend emanating from the rocking Doncaster Dome in Doncaster, England. This will unquestionably be 1PW’s most high-stakes and highly anticipated card to date, as not only do we crown the first ever 1PW Tag Team Champions, but we’ll see two separate defences of the 1PW Heavyweight Championship. Regular fans of 1PW know that since our inaugural show last October, we’ve done an impeccable job of topping ourselves month after month. This weekend shall be no different, as we provide yet another card stacked top-to-bottom with some of the best talent from the world over.
Now, let’s preview the matches on hand one final time before Know Your Enemy is upon us…
FULLY ANNOUNCED KNOW YOUR ENEMY CARDS
FRIDAY NIGHT MAY 26TH
1PW World Heavyweight Championship - Falls Count Anywhere in Doncaster
ABYSS VS ULF HERMAN
The first singles meeting between these two men ended in spectacle, as Abyss chokeslammed Ulf Herman to hell, literally, as he sent the German crashing through a thumbtack-covered flaming table! The sheer brutality and courageousness of Herman in that battle was more than enough to earn him a return bout, under a very similar environment. Herman attempts to win 1PW gold once again, but you can never forget about the man who controls Abyss’ every move in 1PW, Sterling James Keenan, who will surely lurk nearby.
STEVE CORINO VS CHRISTIAN CAGE - #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH!
Late-breaking news here at Newsline, as we can confirm that as of today, 1PW management has placed Steve Corino's championship match for May 27 in peril... by putting his title shot on the line against Christian Cage! With both Corino and Cage having been forced to back out of scheduled championship opportunities in the recent past, 1PW management seemed to be reluctant to reward one over the other with a title shot. Now the only way to settle who TRULY deserves to wrestle for the gold is in a one-on-one meeting with the winner moving forward to the main event on May 27!
1PW Grudge Match
SPUD VS STERLING JAMES KEENAN
Ever since SJK entered 1PW and formed his alliance with Abyss, he’s done everything in his power to get noticed and make statements -- and more often than not they work. One such method has been the constant bullying and attacking of the 5’4” 130 lb. Spud. Sterling has unleashed his “pet monster” on Spud several times in an effort to humiliate the underdog, but each time Spud stood his ground and went down fighting, much to the chagrin of Sterling. Now, SJK finally gets his shot to silence Spud once and for all himself in an official match…and Spud gets his shot to show sometimes the smallest athletes overcome the greatest adversities.
Noah GHC Tag Team Championship Match
DOUG WILLIAMS & NIGEL MCGUINESS VS YONE & MORISHIMA
A sure-fire classic featuring four mat masters. Yone & Morishima have impressed many in the Land of the Rising Sun, whilst Nigel & Doug have wowed peers and fans alike in both the U.K. as well as the United States, and Japan as well. With a lot of pride, and one of Japan’s most prestigious sets of titles at stake, this has the makings to be a show-stealer type contest.
KEVIN STEEN VS ICEMAN VS ?
Iceman has spent the majority of the past several months telling anyone who will listen to him how he feels he has been mistreated by 1PW management. Iceman says he’s above wrestling on pre-shows and dark matches and wants his chance to shine. However, an injury to Samoa Joe has left a wildcard entry in this match. Iceman and Kevin Steen, the prodigy from Canada, will have no idea who their opponent will be until belltime, but with Iceman’s state of mind it may not even matter to him.
1PW Tag Team Championship Tourney 1st Round Matches –
SHAG ( BURRIDGE & CABANA ) VS THE ROTTWEILLERS
The Street Hooligan Adventure Gang of Darren Burridge & Colt Cabana have their work cut out for them in the form of Homicide & Ricky Reyes. The recent hatred between Cabana and Homicide in ROH is well documented, and with tag title implications, it should only become more heated when these four meet.
AL SNOW & BLUE MEANIE VS SOUTHERN COMFORT
What was originally a disagreement between Meanie and Smothers has escalated into a personal issue between all 4 individuals. Who could forget Smothers & Hamrick being forced to wear dresses thanks to a loss to Snow & Meanie? And what about the number of times Smothers & Hamrick got the upper hand thanks to Tracy’s steel chain wrapped around his fist? This weekend, all the bad blood comes to a head once and for all.
IMPACT PLAYERS VS AJ STYLES & CHRIS DANIELS
Certainly this reunion is something both Storm and Credible, and fans alike, have hoped for for quite some time, but the question at hand is will Storm and Credible be able to function as solidly and seamlessly as they did some years ago. Lance has wrestled only one match in the past 2+ years, and it has been more than six years since Lance and Justin last tagged together inside a wrestling ring. They’ll have no room for mistakes as they take on two of the world’s finest…”Fallen Angel” Christoper Daniels and “Phenomenal” AJ Styles! Both men have shown they can be a deadly tag team recently in TNA, however have come up short in opportunities at the NWA World Tag Titles. Word on the street is Styles & Daniels are determined to prove to TNA management that they are indeed a championship-calibur team, and want to use the 1PW Tag Titles to prove their point! One source can confirm plans for the duo to have the titles leave Doncaster with them, only to surface in Orlando for all their friends and colleagues to admire. However, to do so, they’ll have a long road ahead of them.
JONNY STORM & JODY FLEISCH VS GENERATION NEXT
Aries & Strong’s success as a team has been evident in several promotions in 2006. Once both men joined forces in TNA, they instantly began a hot streak, which can be said about them in several other promotions as well. Meanwhile, Storm & Fleisch have been on fire since the very first 1PW match. However, it seems at times, professional, and perhaps even personal differences have come between Fleisch & Storm, which has hindered them somewhat. Their years-long competitive rivalry to establish which of them truly is the best, seems to never be able to go away no matter how hard they try. Will Storm & Fleisch stay on the same page and keep their eyes on the prize or will Aries and Strong capitalize on Storm & Fleisch’s distractions?
SATURDAY NIGHT MAY 27TH
1PW World Heavyweight Championship
ABYSS or ULF HERMAN VS STEVE CORINO or CHRISTIAN CAGE
Both potential champions are monsters, however they will be wounded monsters come time for this match. Both potential challengers are decorated in world title glory, but will still have a major uphill climb ahead of them. So many scenarios that could unfold, but the only thing for sure is this: The 1PW Title scene is red-hot and fans are in store for a unique and unforgettable main event on May 27!
LANCE STORM VS DOUG WILLIAMS
Lance Storm has made it clear he has only two focuses this weekend: The tag team title tournament and wrestling Doug Williams, and has stated he will not participate in anything to distract him from those two goals. Clearly Lance wants to prove to everyone he is still one of the very best wrestlers in the world today, but certainly Doug wants to prove he’s just a little bit better. This should be a truly special match to watch.
STERLING JAMES KEENAN VS PJ POLACO
Win, lose, or draw in the tag team scene, the man otherwise known as Justin Credible, wants to test himself in 1PW’s singles ranks as well, and he couldn’t have come across many opponents more dangerous than Sterling James Keenan. SJK is not only a physically-charged warrior, but also one of the most intelligent individuals in the game today. Can this master of deviousness overcome the former ECW Champion?
1PW Tag Team Championship Tournament Semi Finals & Final
JONNY STORM & JODY FLEISCH or GENERATION NEXT
VS SNOW & MEANIE or SOUTHERN COMFORT
IMPACT PLAYERS or AJ STYLES & CHRIS DANIELS VS TEAM SHAG or ROTTWEILLERS
All teams involved will no doubt be physically and mentally drained but one of these eight teams will win two matches in one night to rightfully take their place as 1PW’s first ever tag champions.
1PW British Cruiserweight Open
PAC vs. STEVIE LYNN vs. DRAGON AISU vs. EL LIGERO vs. SPUD vs. DARKSIDE
1PW showcases some of the most exciting up and coming cruiserweights in the country today for what is sure to be a lightning-fast aerial display of insanity. Spud looks to be the early favorite, however Pac has had quite a bit of buzz surrounding him in recent weeks, and Aisu and Lynn are very well experienced inside 1PW rings. Whoever wins this battle establishes themselves as Britain’s premier cruiserweight.
Plus an exciting FATAL FOUR WAY Tag Team War, featuring the four teams that do not advance in the 1PW Tag Team Championship Tourney
It’s a chance to determine “The Best of the Rest” as one team eliminated in our tag title quarterfinals has the chance to propel themselves back into title contention. It’s a golden opportunity, but who will make the most of it?
