ANALYSIS ON TWO OF KNOW YOUR ENEMY's MOST ANTICIPATED BATTLES!
The monumental announcements made in last week's Newsline regarding the Know Your Enemy matches, have sent fans and insiders alike into an excited buzz. Featuring some very unique and sought-after first-time meetings, as well as rematches and confrontations some have clamored to see for months, these line-ups seem to have at least one blockbuster match or moment for everyone to anticipate. Recently we sat down with 1PW's lead announcer Joe Dombrowski to provide some analysis on some of the matches at hand. Dombrowski had the following to say....
"Certainly one of the leading stories going into this event is the return of Calgary native Lance Storm. Storm quietly retired a couple years back, expressing little to no desire to return until earlier this year to compete for singles gold in Ring of Honor, and of course tag gold in 1PW. Lance has always named his 1PW Tag Tournament opponents, "Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, as men he'd love to wrestle should he step into the ring one more time, but is he biting off more than he can chew in this scenario? AJ and Daniels are universally praised as two of the best in the world, and with only 1 match in two years to work off any potential ring rust, will Lance be able to jump into such a high level of competition so quickly? Then again, he'll be joined by his most successful tag partner of all time Justin Credible. The Impact Players were never beaten for their ECW World Tag Titles some years ago, and are definitely looking for something to prove. This is a match of eras, and a match of pride, but we can't forget the most important factor looming in the distance...the 1PW Tag Titles. Whoever wins this match, may, just MAY, be the odds on favorite to take it all.
And if you prefer mayhem, I have a strong inkling the 1PW Title Match will be for you. I've seen a lot of surreal sights over the years, but none of them compare to Ulf Herman's body crashing through wood, steel, and flames, as his anatomy became engulfed in an explosion of fire. Ulf has proven he has a heart and dedication like few that have come before him, willing to risk life and limb just to be called the best 1PW has to offer. Ulf certainly "knew his enemy" following that clash, and knew he wasn't done with Sterling James Keenan's 350 lb. "pet monster" Abyss. This rematch could take barbaric to a new level, if thats even possible. If Ulf went through the hell he went through and came up short, could you imagine what he may plan to do to win the title?"
The Impact Players vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels, plus the 1PW Title match with Abyss defending against Ulf Herman, along with SO much more takes place May 26 at the Doncaster Dome, a part of what will surely become a historic weekend.

1PW SPOTLIGHTS ITS HOMEGROWN TALENT
1PW Official Ron McNorson contacted Newsline recently to ask that we spend a little time spotlighting some of the exciting homegrown talent on the 1PW roster. "Usually when talk about the British talent in 1PW, people tend to focus on JODY FLEISCH or JONNY STORM or DOUG WILLIAMS, said McNorson. "And not
without merit. They are perhaps the three best-known and just plain BEST wrestlers of their generation in this nation. Even newcomer NIGEL McGUINESS comes to 1PW with a tremendous reputation. But the UK has produced a considerable crop of fantastic wrestlers in the last few years and 1PW is proud to have the cream of that crop on its roster."
A perfect example of what McNorson is talking about is "The Pukka One", DARREN BURRIDGE. The much-beloved Burridge is one half of
the newly-formed STREET HOOLIGAN ADVENTURE GANG with American wrestler COLT CABANA. Darren is a free-wheeling spirit from Essex whose skills have made him a sought-after commodity by promotions throughout the UK and
across Europe. At 6ft 1” and 230lbs, Burridge straddles the line between the cruiserweight and heavyweight weight classes. Burridge won his opportunity in 1PW back at A Cruel Twist of Fate, by outlasting 22 others in a proving ground battle royal, last pinning ROH star Chad Collyer, to earn his 1PW contract. From there, the charismatic and un-orthodox
King of Chavs scored a huge upset victory over Britian’s finest DOUG WILLIAMS at No Turning Back to eanr his spot in the All or Nothing 1PW Championship Tournament , before falling victim to eventual tournament winner and 1PW champion ABYSS.
Burridge has declared himself "King of the Chavs" and is delighted when he when whip the crowd into a frenzy when his dancing, his barking or his fast-paced wrestling. Just don't boo him or you risk being labelled "a slag". And remember to watch out for Darren's trademark fuzzy dice,
which he releases from the from of his wrestling trunks when he senses that victory is near.
Another of 1PW's new stars is cruiserweight sensation SPUD. Never mind the fact that it takes someone crazy, brave or both to stand up to a monster like ABYSS, but the 5ft 4”, 124 lbs Spud earned himself a shot at the 1PW World title by refusing to back down to the 6'8", 350 pound
champion.
Spud is proud that he had a chance to face Abyss and scored a huge two-count on the champ,
but has been quietly pushing behind the scenes for 1PW to formally establish its cruiserweight division by sanctioning a 1PW Cruiserweight title. "I don't mind people calling me The Little Wrestler Who Could but I'm waiting for the day 1PW fans call me The Little Champion Who Does."
With the 1PW Tag Team division in full bloom (the Tag Title tournament takes place May 26th and 27th at the Dome in
Doncaster), its only right that more and more British teams make their way into 1PW. Joining the likes of Storm and Fleisch, Williams and McGuiness and TEAM SHAG is the new British duo of “ Sadistic “ JACK STORM and “ The Human Hate Mahcine “ DAVE MORALEZ: TEAM SUPREME.
Storm (no relation to either Jonny or Lance) and Moralez were signed up by 1PW to compete in our tag team division after carving out a trail of destruction throughout the UK independent scene, proving themselves to be one of the most viscous and nefarious teams in British Wrestling. There isn’t a rule in the book they won’t break to
achieve what they so badly desire, and that is to be THE top team in 1PW when all is said and done.
Heavyweight bruiser ICEMAN appeared on 1PW's first show, A CRUEL TWIST OF FATE, last October, but has since appeared only on FanSlam afternoon events. 1p-w.com recently published a video of Iceman attacking 3 wrestlers during a FanSlam match at March's ALL OR NOTHING events. Iceman is upset about being relugated to "pre-show" duties and has vowed
to use force to take everything he thinks 1PW should already have given
him.
Iceman, who has already shown the devastating power to knock opponents out cold with a single punch, is going to be a handful for 1PW security, led by mat veteran KEITH MYATT. "Iceman needs to learn some patience and some respect, said Myatt. "Nothing in wrestling gets handed to you on a silver platter. It looks like a lot of people are going to get hurt before Iceman learns that lesson. “

Fans trying to catch a glimpse of ICE XVII are out of luck. Over the last few months, 17 has spent a lot of time contemplating his future in the sport, looking within himself for the drive to excel that fueled the early days of his career. "I've been wearing this mask to the ring for
matches lately. I'd take it off before the match and the ringside guys would take it to the dressing room. I realized that I wasn't firing on all cylinders once matches started though. As confident as I felt coming to the the ring, it just wasn't happening for me once the bell rang. I know now that I was neglecting my mask. It isn't just for decoration. It's a source of strength. It's a well of energy I can use to fuel myself and my actions in the ring. With that power I can conquer any fool who stands in my way." And with that we were informed that ICE XVII
was gone... and DRAGON AISU would stand in his place.

1PW HOLDS CONTEST FOR EARLY KNOW YOUR ENEMY TICKET BUYERS Purchase tickets for either Friday or Saturday night’s events or for Saturday afternoon’s FIGHT CLUB showcase BEFORE APRIL 15TH and you’ll have a chance to have lunch with a pair of 1PW superstars. That’s right, fans… everyone who purchases their seats early
(including everyone who has already purchased their tickets) will be entered into a drawing for a chance you and one friend to sit down for a meal and a conversation with two of the wrestlers who make 1PW so exciting. The winners will be announced in early May with 3 winners (one per event) being named and meeting times being arranged for during the KYE weekend. FIGHT CLUB II – JULY 1ST
On July 1st 1PW presents FIGHT CLUB II, a Sky Television Taping being held at the Doncaster College for the Deaf ( on Leger Way in Doncaster, five minutes away from the home of 1PW: the Doncaster Dome ) .. Newsline can tell you that already signed for this exciting, hard hitting event… DOUG WILLIAMS will receive is first shot at the 1PW Heavyweight Championship, as he faces either ABYSS, ULF HERMAN, or STEVE CORINO, depending on who manages to leave KNOW YOUR ENEMY with the coveted 1PW title belt.
Other 1PW stars signed to appear at this event include “ The Pukka One “ DARREN BURRIDGE, SPUD, ICEMAN, JONNY STORM & JODY FLEISCH, TEAM SUPREME, DRAGON AISU, STEVIE LYNN, and MARTIN STONE.
Also just signed for this event is ROH star and mat technician CHAD COLLYER, who makes his return to 1PW at this event. Collyer, who is a word renowned wrestling workhorse, will surely be looking to stamp his dominance on FIGHT CLUB II, and is looking at the event in the same way many of our British competitors are, as an opportunity to impress 1PW and its awesome fans.
Newsline can tell you that 1PW officials have been in negotiations with several other high profile British athletes to compete at this event, as well as two stars from the US, and several JAPANESE performers. 1PW DEVILS DUE – JULY 29TH – HULL
The East Coast of the
England is abuzz as 1PW has announced plans for our debut show in HULL, to take place at the GEMTEC ARENA ( Walton Street, Hull ) on July 29th .

A huge thanks goes out from all at 1PW to our fans that tuned into The Wrestling Channel on Sky Digital 427 this past Sunday night to see 1PW’s UK television debut… the show was a asucess on all fronts, and newsline is proud to announce that 1PW returns to TWC on May 7th for a second four hour special.
