NWS News, Legends Of the Ring News & More

Legends of the Ring held their third convention yesterday in Edison, NJ. The turnout was estimated around the 250-300 mark. Some of the stars that showed up included the Steiner Brothers, Typhoon (Who looked massive in person), Kevin Sullivan, Slick, Doink The Clown, Balls Mahoney, The Bolsheviks, Adam Bomb, Jim Duggan, Buff Bagwell, Luna Vachon & more.

The convention ran smoothly, which is no surprise, as Terrence, the promoter of the convention, has built up a track record of someone who comes through with his conventions. Terrence has earned a solid reputation with his conventions, and put on another good event.

One problem for Terrence, which he hadn't had in the past, was a no-show. Psycho Sid aka Sid Vicious aka Sid Justice aka Sid, let Terrence and the NWS (who booked Sid for 5 shots) that he wouldn't be able to appear at any of his bookings this weekend, due to his mother being sick.

Sid was a center of controversy yesterday, and has been accused of no-showing promoters in the NJ area in the past. Both Eric Simms and Geno Moore of the NWS are expected to make a statement about Sid's no-show. Both men, Simms and Moore were peeved about Sid's no-show, since Sid was used on their posters to promote the convention and NWS.

Both Terrence of LOTR and Gino of the NWS, used Kenzo Suzuki & Hiroko, formerly of the WWE, to replace Sid. Being at the convention, the former WWE Tag Team Champion got a very good response.

Look for an Eric Simms column about this situation on Monday. One must also wonder what Simms thinks about the rumor of Tommy Fierro coming back to the convention promoting game.

In ROH news, several rumors being spread around the convention, was about ROH's 10/2 show. According to some with knowledge of the situation, Percy Pringle and Jim Cornette are the two lead candidates for ROH's Authority Figure role. ROH was also rumored to be talking to the SAT about bringing them back, but the SAT, according to a source close to the situation, said the SAT refused ROH. We'll try to have more on that story soon.

Look for ROH 10/2 results later on today on the DOI.
